12 Acclaimed RPGs in Latest Humble Bundle

If you love narrative games, you’d better not sleep on Serenity Forge Storyteller’s Bundle on Humble Bundle. Featuring 12 hand-picked, story-rich indie RPGs, the bundle includes both cult favorites and recent hidden gems, all for a minimum price of $11.20 USD.

The bundle also includes a few turn-based gems (otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this article) that, given the very low price, are well worth considering. Let’s take a look at the titles most relevant to us.

Arcadian Atlas is an FFT-like game from 2023.

First up is Arcadian Atlas, a tactical RPG heavily inspired by Final Fantasy Tactics. It delivers a sweeping tactical RPG experience wrapped in pixel art and political turmoil. Set in the fractured kingdom of Arcadia, the game follows star-crossed lovers caught in a brutal civil war, forced to choose between loyalty to the crown and the pull of revolution.

On the battlefield, Arcadian Atlas features a robust class system featuring elemental Warmancers to ambush-focused Rangers and battlefield-altering Apothecaries, each unit brings distinct mechanics. It didn’t receive widespread critical acclaim, but it’s still a title that might be worth trying, especially if you’re a fan of tactical games.

Long Gone Days - One of the Best Releases of October 2023
Visual Novel and turn-based combat collide in JRPG-inspired Long Gone Days.

Next is Long Gone Days, a highly praised RPG that blends classic turn-based combat with visual novel mechanics. A JRPG formula, trading fantasy tropes for a contemporary setting shaped by war, deception, and human connection. Players follow Rourke, a young sniper raised in a shadowy paramilitary state, as he begins to question the system that shaped him.

Combat blends traditional turn-based mechanics with a unique Sniper Mode that encourages tactical targeting, while narrative decisions influence party morale and relationships. There are no random battles; each encounter is tightly woven into the plot, enhancing the weight of your choices.

Cool Timing Mechanics and background story for Virgo Versus The Zodiac.

This bundle also includes one of the titles I’ve enjoyed most in recent years: Virgo Versus The Zodiac. You play as Virgo, the self-declared Holy Queen, marching across the galaxy to dethrone the Zodiacs and restore what she believes is the Golden Age. This pixel-art JRPG blends turn-based with real-time action mechanics, where success also depends on precise timing for attacks, blocks, and counters.

Every encounter is handcrafted, with no random battles to pad the journey. Exploration is rewarded with quirky characters, divergent paths, and multiple endings, all shaped by Virgo’s rigid worldview and cosmic zeal. It’s a wild mix of dark humor, layered lore, and reflex-based combat that sets it apart from traditional genre fare. If you’re looking for something bold, offbeat, and fiercely original, Virgo Versus The Zodiac might be written in your stars.

Lisa: The Painful
A story of sacrifice and vengeance in Lisa: The Painful.

And finally, there’s one title that I admit I’ve never played, but I’ve heard great things about. Lisa: The Painful. A brutally emotional post-apocalyptic RPG that blends dark humor with relentless moral choices. You take on the role of Brad Armstrong, a broken man searching for his adopted daughter in a desolate world. Whether it’s giving up limbs, losing allies, or making gut-wrenching decisions, it looks like every action carries lasting consequences.

The combat is turn-based but layered with harsh penalties, unique mechanics, and over a hundred bizarre encounters. The bundle features The Definitive Edition that adds enhanced visuals, new music, expanded systems, and fresh content. This covers everything currently available for turn-based. The full bundle includes:

  • Arcadian Atlas – A tactical RPG about love, war, and betrayal, set in a beautifully pixelated fantasy world.
  • Long Gone Days – A modern-day military RPG that blends turn-based combat with visual novel storytelling.
  • Lifeless Moon – A surreal sci-fi exploration game and spiritual successor to Lifeless Planet.
  • Smile For Me – A whimsical point-and-click adventure where you help sad people smile again—without ever saying a word.
  • Virgo Versus The Zodiac – A fast-paced, turn-based RPG set in a corrupted cosmic order ruled by signs.
  • Death’s Gambit – A challenging 2D action RPG with deep lore and punishing boss fights.
  • Lifeless Planet Premier Edition – A cult sci-fi platformer about isolation and discovery on a mysterious world.
  • Neversong – A haunting action-adventure from the creators of Pinstripe, exploring trauma and childhood fears.
  • Paratopic – A short, experimental horror game known for its eerie atmosphere and fragmented storytelling.
  • LISA: The Painful – A brutal turn-based RPG about sacrifice and survival in a post-apocalyptic world.
  • LISA: The Joyful – A DLC-sized sequel that expands the LISA story with new characters and emotional weight.
  • $5 Coupon for LISA Vinyl – A bonus discount for the game’s official soundtrack on vinyl.

Each title in the bundle has received generally positive to overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, and many of them are standout favorites for RPG fans who appreciate bold writing and distinct mechanics. The bundle supports charity and is available for a limited time on Humble Bundle.
