15 Nintendo Switch Turn-Based RPGs on Sale This Week

And after the article dedicated to this week’s PlayStation deals, I couldn’t leave Nintendo Switch behind. There’s a ton of interesting stuff worth checking out here too, at ridiculously low prices.

There’s nothing like a good turn-based game on the Switch. The console’s portability hearkens back to the good old days of handhelds, and there are plenty of modern games that we could never have dreamed of running on our Game Boys and 3DSes.

If you’re looking for your next adventure, I’ve found a bunch of great deals on turn-based RPGs, specifically in the Nintendo Store. Check them out below, and let me know which games you recommend!

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes – Digital Deluxe Edition

  • Developer: Rabbit & Bear Studios
  • Release Date: 23 April, 2024
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
Eiyuden chronicle out now

Eiyuden Chronicle is inspired by old-school classics like Suikoden, but its lush world and massive, memorable cast make this more than just a tribute to a bygone era of RPGs. It’s a delightful fusion of old and new, and will deserving of a place in any JRPG fan’s library.

Hundred Heroes usually sells for $49.99, but you can get it on the Switch for just $14.99 until 26 May, saving 70%. The prequel, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, is 75% off during the same period, so you can tack it on for just $3.74!

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus

  • Developer: Bulwark Studios
  • Release Date: 17 July, 2020
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
Warhammer 40.000: Mechanicus

With the sequel launching in a matter of days, it’s little surprise that Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus is on sale. Now is a great time to try this grimdark adventure in the cryptic tombs of the Necrons, as you lead your band of Mechanicus acolytes in fierce tactical battles to recover lost technologies.

The Switch version of Mechanicus is a fantastic 90% off until 4 June, giving you lots of time to start your delve for just $3.99 instead of the full price of $39.99.

Day of the Shell

  • Developer: Duper Games, Entalto Games
  • Release Date: 29 July, 2025
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
Day Of The Shell

A lot of thought goes into a run in any tactical roguelike, and Day of the Shell is no exception. Where this atmospheric 2025 title sets itself apart, though, is its pace – a single press of a button is all it takes to execute a full turn.

That means the game moves fast, but it also means you’d better be sure not to misclick! Are you careful and cunning enough to survive the wrath of the gods?

Day of the Shell is available on Switch for $9.74 until 28 May, a 35% discount. After that, the price goes back up to $14.99 – still not bad, but it’s always good to save where you can!

BRIGANDINE The Legend of Runersia

  • Developer: Happinet, Matrix Software
  • Release Date: 25 June, 2020
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
Gameplay

The Switch is great for strategy games, and Brigandine is a perfect example. In this grand hex-grid epic, you’ll command mighty knights and mystical monsters in a war for control of the continent. Each of the six playable nations has its own characters, intrigues, and stories, so it’s worth seeing the story from everyone’s perspective.

You can get the Switch version of The Legend of Runersia at a 70% discount until 28 May, with the game priced at $14.99 instead of the usual $49.99.

Loop8: Summer of Gods

  • Developer: Marvelous, Inc.
  • Release Date: 6 June, 2023
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
Loop8 Summer of Gods

If Stranger Things were an anime, with its focus on ’80s nostalgia and a plot of battling a supernatural threat, it might look something like Loop8. As the new kid in a quiet Japanese town, your task is to defeat the monstrous Kegai in one month. It’s a bit of a task, but luckily you can repeat August of 1983 over and over again until you find a path to victory.

Appropriately, Loop8 is 88% off on the Switch, taking its price from $39.99 to just $4.79. There’s a catch, though – the sale is only going to last a few more hours. It might even be over by the time you read this, so hurry!

One Way Heroics Plus

  • Developer: Smoking WOLF
  • Release Date: 18 June, 2020
  • Platforms: Windows, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
One Way Heroics

If you thought playing turn-based games would save you from the dread of autoscrollers, think again! One Way Heroics is a turn-based roguelike where your party of pixelated heroes has to keep moving to the right, just like in classic platformers.

Dally too long, even to shop or fight, and the looming darkness coming from the left side of the screen will overwhelm you!

If you think you can outpace the forces of evil, the Switch version of One Way Heroics Plus is 50% off until 1 June. Normally $14.99, it’s down to just $7.49 for the rest of May.

Potato Flowers in Full Bloom

  • Developer: Pon Pon Games
  • Release Date: 10 March, 2022
  • Platforms: Windows, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
Potato Flowers in Full Bloom

Like many fantasy RPGs, Potato Flowers in Full Bloom sends you into the depths of a dungeon, battling monsters in turn-based battles in search of a legendary treasure.

This time, though, it’s not gold or a magical sword (though those would be nice to find) but seeds. The world’s soil is contaminated, and only the mystical seeds at the bottom of the dungeon can grow, meaning you’re the last hope.

If you’re looking for a game where it’s important to pay attention to your opponents’ moves and watch out for traps, you can get Potato Flowers in Full Bloom on the Switch for $13.31 until 1 June. That’s a 26% discount off its standard price of $17.99.

Gamedec – Definitive Edition

  • Developer: Anshar Studios
  • Release Date: 16 September, 2021
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
Gamedec

Gamedec is an isometric cyberpunk RPG, letting you bring the CRPG experience to your Switch. It’s not about combat and tactics, though; in this investigative experience, you explore virtual worlds and solve cybercrimes.

The lines between the physical and digital worlds are blurred, and every choice you make could have a consequence.

The price, however, is hardly a tough choice. The Switch version of Gamedec is just $3.99 until 1 June, letting you save an impressive 86% off its standard price of $29.99.

Cris Tales

  • Developer: Dreams Uncorporated, SYCK
  • Release Date: 20 July, 2021
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
Cris Tales Battle
In battles, you will be in the center. You can make the enemies on the right older and the ones on the left younger.

If you love the classic RPGs of the ’90s, you’ll have a great time with this bright, stylized tribute. As a Time Mage, you can use your powers to peer into the past and future, gaining insight to the forces that threaten the world. You can also send enemies backward and forwards through time, setting up clever combos!

Cris Tales is at a very generous discount of 90% on the Switch until 21 May, bringing the price from $39.99 down to just $3.99. There’s no time travel if you miss the sale, though, so act fast!

Wintermoor Tactics Club

  • Developer: EVC
  • Release Date: 10 September, 2020
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
Wintermoor Tactics RPG

Wintermoor Tactics Club is like a cross between Persona and the tutorial from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

I know that’s an oddly specific comparison, but it fits; as the nerdy Tactics Club at the prestigious Wintermoor Academy, your party will have to use their tabletop knowledge to survive the campus-wide snowball war… and the other mysterious goings-on around school.

The Switch version of Wintermoor Tactics Club is just $4.99 until 28 May, letting you save 75% off its standard price of $19.99.

The Hand of Merlin

  • Developer: Room-C Games
  • Release Date: 14 June, 2022
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
The Hand of Merlin

This tactical roguelite is a blend of history, folklore, and what-ifs as you lead three adventurers on the quest to restore the Holy Grail after the fall of King Arthur.

Your journey will take you from Britain to Jerusalem, battling fearsome monsters along the way, and in each run events following Arthur’s death have played out just a little differently, so you’ll never quite know what to expect even if you take the same path.

The Hand of Merlin is available on Switch for just $7.49, a 75% discount off its standard price of $29.99. The sale is until 28 May, so you’ve got a little over a week to ready yourself for adventure!

HeistGeist

  • Developer: Doublequote Studio
  • Release Date: 6 February, 2023
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
HeistGeist

Heistgeist is a stylish cyberpunk RPG that gets the classic vibe just right with neon galore and early ’90s retro-futuristic styles. With its focus on characters and story and a card-basted battle system, it could be the slick, cybernetic sister to titles like SteamWorld Quest.

If Heistgeist sounds like your kind of game, you can get it for 65% off on the Switch until 8 June, knocking its price from $19.90 down to $6.96. It’s not available on PlayStation or Xbox, either, so if you’re looking to play on console the Switch is the only way to go.

Citizen Sleeper 1 & 2

  • Developer: Jump Over The Age
  • Release Date: 31 January, 2025
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
Citizen Sleeper

Citizen Sleeper is a fantastic roleplaying experience where the dice are present but serve to drive the story and narrative.

Whether you’re a worker surviving aboard a dangerous space station in the first game or getting a crew together to seek your fortune among the stars in the second, these are two games you don’t want to miss.

Fortunately, they’re offered as a pair in the Helion Collection through the Nintendo Store. Better yet, that bundle is 59% off until 25 May, dropping its price from $40.48 to $16.59. If you’re just missing one of the two, Citizen Sleeper is available on Switch for $5.99 (70% off) and Citizen Sleeper 2 for $12.49 (50% off)

The Last Spell

  • Developer: Ishtar Games
  • Release Date: 3 June, 2021
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
The Last Spell New Race

Now THAT’S a soundtrack. The Last Spell pits your small band of heroes in a desperate last stand against nightly hordes of vicious monsters, all to a pulse-pounding metal score.

This is the kind of roguelite where you can expect to lose a lot, but you’re going to feel like an absolute champion doing so… and when you do turn the tables on the monsters and take down their terrifying bosses, the music makes it all the more awesome.

The Switch version of The Last Spell is 60% off until 21 May, bringing the price from $24.99 down to $9.99. Just remember to turn the volume back down when you’re done playing.

Thea: The Awakening

  • Developer: MuHa Games
  • Release Date: 20 November, 2015
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Nintendo Store Page
Thea: The Awakening

Thea is a neat blend of Slavic folklore, 4X exploration, and RPG mechanics. With only a small band of villagers, you’ll strike out against the threats encroaching from all corners of the world.

Each villager and newcomer might have skills that make them excel at a particular role, but whether you set them to crafting, exploring, or fighting is up to you. Just remember that death is permanent, and there are greater threats than just people in the dark woods beyond the village.

Thea is just $5.39 on the Switch until 7 June, a 70% discount from its usual price of $17.99 The sequel isn’t discounted at this time, but it could be one to keep an eye on if you enjoy The Awakening!
