My August 5, 2026 recap is packed with roguelites, but it also features a few standout, full-fledged RPGs.
Another week means another batch of RPGs and strategy games at massive discounts, all collected in my latest recap. This time around, there are tons of roguelites available at frankly ridiculous prices, along with a few traditional RPGs that, if they’re still missing from your library, might finally be worth picking up.
Without wasting any more time, let’s jump into the article, featuring 20 games that are well worth considering right now.
Beyond GalaxyLand
- Developer: Sam Enright
- Release Date: 24 September, 2024
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

With its grand space vistas and strange planets, Beyond Galaxyland has everything a cosmic explorer could want.
This pixelated homage to classic sci-fi cinema is a thrilling ride in its own right, so if you’re a fan of anything from Star Wars to Alien to Guardians of the Galaxy, you’ll find plenty to love in Doug’s RPG quest to save the Earth and the universe.
Beyond Galaxyland has a free demo available on Steam, and the full version is a very generous 67% off until 10 August. Normally $14.99, it’s down to just $4.94, and you can get it bundled with Bloomtown or Times & Galaxy to save even more!
Crown Gambit
- Developer: Wild Wits Games
- Release Date: 18 June, 2025
- Platform: Windows, Mac
- Steam Page

Beautifully presented and full of tough narrative decisions, Crown Gambit puts you in the role of a trio of paladins caught up in a brutal succession crisis. Not only will you need to choose which pretender to the throne you’ll support, but see how far you’re willing to go, possibly in defiance of your oaths, in the name of victory.
If you’re looking for a game that blends tactical combat with an engrossing story, Crown Gambit is down from $17.99 to $10.79 on Steam until 16 August, a savings of 40%. The Deluxe Edition, which includes the artbook and soundtrack, is also discounted at $13.23.
Long Gone Days
- Developer: This I Dreamt
- Release Date: 10 October, 2023
- Platform: Windows, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

JRPGs are known for their stories, and Long Gone Days makes an immersive narrative central to the entire experience. Exploration, dialogue, and combat are all familiar in this near-future sci-fi war story, but they tie into the overarching tale in a way few games manage. Every battle is handcrafted and grows directly from the story, so there are no random encounters, and each fight counts!
You can try Long Gone Days through the free demo on Steam, and if you decide to go for it the full game is 40% off until 16 August, down from $24.99 to $14.99. You can also get it bundled together with Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark for a tactical RPG inspired by the greats!
For The King II
- Developer: IronOak Games
- Release Date: 2 November, 2023
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox
- Steam Page

If you’re in the mood for party-based RPG battles with friends that reward teamwork, it’s hard to do better than For The King II. Inspired by tabletop games, this roguelite is built with co-op in mind, and there’s plenty of content to keep each new run fresh and your team experimenting with new builds.
For The King II is 66% off through 13 August on Steam, letting you score a copy for just $8.49 rather than the usual $24.99. The Deluxe Edition, which includes all the DLC, is 44% off at $23.51, and the Signature Edition, which adds the soundtrack and extra cosmetics on top of everything else, is $27.62.
You can also get the base game bundled with the original For The King, taking advantage of the sale on both games for a total price of just $11.23.
Dust Raiders
- Developer: Vixa Games
- Release Date: 27 July, 2025
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

So many post-apocalyptic games get hung up on gritty survival and crafting, so it’s refreshing to see Dust Raiders focus on the things that really matter: souped-up vehicles bristling with guns, screaming across a blasted wasteland and blowing each other up!
As you explore the world, accepting quests, upgrading your truck, and trading with other survivors, you’ll get into high-speed vehicle battles that feel like they’re straight out of Mad Max.
Steam has a free demo of Dust Raiders to try, and the full game is 50% off until 15 August. It’s down to just $7.99 from its standard price of $15.99, and if you’re in the mood for the other famous brand of post-apocalyptic exploration, you can get it bundled with Early-Access zombie sim Infection Free Zone.
Lost In Fantaland
- Developer: Supernature Studio
- Release Date: 26 September, 2024
- Platform: Windows, Mac, PlayStation, Android
- Steam Page

Lost In Fantaland puts a roguelike spin on classic TRPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics, with small battlefields and a card mechanic to shake things up.
Beyond having plenty of playable classes, each with a unique deck, and randomly-generated campaigns to keep each run fresh, you can combine cards on the fly to play them all at once, expanding your options even further!
If you’re looking for your next roguelike to dive into, you can get Lost In Fantaland on Steam for just $8.39 until 11 August, saving 40% off its usual price of $13.969. It’s also available bundled with the Advance Wars-inspired Wargroove, offering even more grid-based goodness.
The Dragoness: Command of the Flame
- Developer: Crazy Goat Games
- Release Date: 1 September, 2022
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

If your ’90s strategy game of choice was instead Heroes of Might and Magic, you can give that style of gameplay a roguelike makeover with The Dragoness.
Building out your capital and reinforcing your army, you’ll explore the map and battle enemy forces at the behest of your sovereign. Not only does each new run hold new challenges (how many HOMM skirmish games did you leave unfinished back in the day?), but even in defeat you’ll unlock new options for future campaigns.
The Dragoness has a free demo available on Steam, but if you decide to buy it, you should definitely act before 13 August. It’s on sale for just $1.99 until then, giving you a chance to add this underrated roguelike to your collection for 90%; after the 13th, it’s back up to $19.99.
Worldless
- Developer: Noname Studios
- Release Date: 20 November, 2023
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

Metroidvanias aren’t exactly the first genre that comes to mind when you think of turn-based games, but as titles like Monster Sanctuary and Bearnard prove, it’s more than possible to blend action platforming and exploration with thoughtful, turn-based battles. Worldless is another example of this, and its colorful, stylized universe is a joy to explore.
You can give Worldless a try via the free demo, and the full game is just $6.99 on Steam until 14 August. It normally goes for $19.99, so that’s a 65% discount. The Deluxe Edition, which includes the soundtrack, is 59% off at $9.21, and the Flow Platform Frenzy Bundle packs Worldless together with some other excellent platformers.
Commander Quest
- Developer: Flyway Games
- Release Date: 4 April, 2025
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

If you wanted more deckbuilding in Song of Silence‘s excellent autobattles, Commander Quest could be the game for you. It runs with the concept all the way to the goal, building a full roguelike deckbuilder where your cards affect troops on the battlefield just as much as placement and unit counters. It’s also got some very fun character art based on historical generals!
Commander Quest has a free demo, and Steam has the full game at 40% off until 7 August. After that, it goes back to its regular price of $11.99, which is still pretty good… but who doesn’t love a deal?
Neon Blood
- Developer: ChaoticBrain Studios
- Release Date: 26 November, 2024
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

Another RPG that leans heavily into storytelling, Neon Blood has an eye-popping cyberpunk look brought to life with stylish pixel animation.
As you investigate the secrets of the dystopian city, you’ll also be treated to strategic, turn-based brawls when you mess with the wrong people… which, this being cyberpunk, will be pretty often.
The Neon Blood demo is well worth a try, but at $3.99 you might consider just diving straight into the full game. You’ll have to act fast, though, as that price is only good on Steam until 10 August; after that, it’s back up to $19.99. The Special Edition, which includes the soundtrack and artbook, is 70% off at $7.45.
Sandwalkers
- Developer: Goblinz Studio
- Release Date: 8 April, 2025
- Platform: Windows, Mac, Linux
- Steam Page

Thematic and richly imagined, Sandwalkers is a beautiful survival roguelite both in terms of its lovely pixel art and its environmental, generational themes.
As a wandering caravan, your job is to search for a new home while battling hostile forces, digging up the secrets of the past, and trying to make allies. Each caravan will pass on its findings to the next, in the hopes of one day restoring the world.
You can get Sandwalkers on Steam for just $7.99 until 6 August, saving 60% off its usual price of $19.99. It’s also available as part of the Goblinz Best Sellers bundle, which combined with the sale price offers six great strategy games for just $26.04.
Songs of Rats
- Developer: Tesseract Games
- Release Date: 10 March, 2025
- Platform: Windows, Linux
- Steam Page

Songs of Rats is a bit like the old first-person CRPGs, but with a sci-fi twist. The game is presented as a retro sci-fi display, giving a real feeling that you’re in some forgotten, claustrophobic techno-labyrinth. The result is a simple but very effective RPG in the depths of a destroyed civilization.
Not only does Steam have a free demo for Songs of Rats, but the full game is just $2.99 until 10 August. You can save 80% off the standard price of $14.99, or save 69% off the Deluxe Edition (down from $17.96 to $5.60) and get the artbook and a fiction ebook thrown in as well.
Mahokenshi – The Samurai Deckbuilder
- Developer: Game Source Studio
- Release Date: 24 January, 2023
- Platform: Windows, Mac
- Steam Page

If you’re a fan of samurai fantasy in the vein of Legend of the Five Rings, you’ll definitely want to check out Mahokenshi. This strategic deckbuilder challenges you to journey across a hex-grid map, improving your skills and battling oni with powerful spells and techniques. It’s also very pretty, offering a visual feast on each adventure.
The full game is discounted 75% on Steam until 10 August, dropping the price from $24.99 to $6.24. You can also try the demo to check the game out before putting it in your cart.
Untamed Tactics
- Developer: Grumpy Owl Games
- Release Date: 28 August, 2023
- Platform: Windows, Mac
- Steam Page

Untamed Tactics puts you in command of a band of anthropomorphic heroes, led by the disgraced General Greycoat.
As you try to carve out a new home for yourselves in a far-off land, you’ll need to put each of your companions’ skills to use and maybe even talk your way out of fights mid-battle (yes, that’s an option!) if you want to succeed.
You can get Untamed Tactics on Steam for $5.99 until 10 August, saving 70% off its usual price of $19.99. The Humblewood Edition, which includes the DLC of the same name, is just $1.61 more during the sale, or you can get the game as part of the Narrative Bundle to add on a trio of other unique, story-based RPGs.
Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game
- Developer: Iron Tower Studio
- Release Date: 9 November, 2023
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

Roguelikes are great, but sometimes you want one big RPG adventure to explore. For that, we recommend Colony Ship, a high-concept sci-fi CRPG where you’re living on a generation ship moving at slower-than-light speeds in deep space.
You’ll never live to see the ship reach Proxima Centauri, so the game is about how your actions affect the society that’s grown inside the vessel, and possibly the outcome of the centuries-long voyage itself.
If the $39.99 price tag on Colony Ship has kept you hesitant until now, you can get it for just $15.99 until 10 August and save 60%. It’s also offered with several great bundles, including one with The Necromancer’s Tale and another with Cyber Knights: Flashpoint.
Heroes of Science and Fiction
- Developer: Oxymoron Games
- Release Date: 17 March, 2026
- Platform: Windows, Linux
- Steam Page

The Early-Access release of Olden Era already made 2026 a banner year for HOMM fans, but we shouldn’t overlook the great work that indie studios have been doing with the legendary style of gameplay.
Oxymoron’s Heroes of Science and Fiction, which launched into 1.0 this spring, takes the familiar RPG-meets-strategy concept and brings it into a spaceborne universe full of mysteries and secrets.
Not only is HOSF 60% off until 10 August, taking the price from $29.99 down to $11.99, but the first map pack DLC, Typhon, is out and discounted as well! You can get the Typhon map pack for $3.49 during the sale period, saving 30% and making the base game and DLC together just $15.48.
Astral throne
- Developer: Zero Sun Games
- Release Date: 7 February, 2025
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

Astral Throne offers a fun blend of classic, Fire Emblem-style gameplay and story with quick, handcrafted roguelike campaigns. Between different characters, gear, and even enemy loadouts, not to mention your own choices, each campaign can have a very different outcome, even if you fight the same battles!
With Astral Throne II on the way, now is a great time to try the original, which is on sale for 60% off through Steam until 10 August. It usually sells for $19.99, but you can get it for $7.99 during that time.
Card-en-Ciel
- Developer: Inti Creates
- Release Date: 23 October, 2024
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

Card-En-Ciel might look at first glance like a head-to-head card battler in the vein of Yu-Gi-Oh or Shadowverse, but it’s actually an anime RPG with battles blending cards and the grid of GBA classic Mega Man Battle Network.
Throw in bright, colorful visuals and an upbeat vocal soundtrack, and the result is a strategic, heavily replayable game that’s bursting with charm.
You can try the demo of Card-En-Ciel for free on Steam, and the full game is 50% off until 6 August. It normally sells for $24.99, but if you act fast you can get it for $12.99, or get it bundled with Inti’s action RPG Divine Dynamo Flamefrit for just $1.39 more.
Those Who Rule
- Developer: Eldin Turulja
- Release Date: 27 January, 2025
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

If you like Fire Emblem but want games with a bit more grit and moral ambiguity, Those Who Rule offers classic gameplay (with some of its own twists) and a dangerous, war-torn world. Just surviving battles requires your units to work as a team, since positioning reduces the effect of random factors, and off the field you’ll have to make decisions that deeply impact the outcome of the story.
Steam has Those Who Rule down to just $8.99 until 6 August, a savings of 50% off its list price of $17.99. You can also get it as part of the Strategy RPG Underground bundle, together with other fun, indie titles Our Adventurer Guild and Kingsvein.
THYSIASTERY
- Developer: DIRGA
- Release Date: 9 March, 2026
- Platform: Windows, Linux
- Steam Page

If you prefer your fantasy weird and creepy, then stylized dungeon-crawler Thysiastery is just what you need. If not for the modern roguelike gameplay and skill system, you might think this was a forgotten retro classic, in all the best ways.
You can recruit other heroes while trying to find your way out of the labyrinth, and you’ll probably need to do so as your party succumbs to the terrors within!
Thysiastery is discounted 38% on Steam, which isn’t bad for a game that launched this year. It’s down to $9.29 until 10 August, at which point it goes back up to $14.99. It’s also available bundled with a few other titles, ranging from other creepy games like Horripilant to its dungeon-crawler brethren like Wizardry: The Five Ordeals.
That wraps up this list on a hot summer day. Let me know what you think by joining me in the Reddit community. Wish you the best. Ciao
