Larian Studios unveiled exciting news for gamers eagerly anticipating the release of Baldur’s Gate 3. In a new gameplay trailer showcased at Sony’s State of Play Event, Larian introduced players to the game’s primary antagonist, General Ketheric Thorm, who leads an army of undead towards the city of Baldur’s Gate. Larian also revealed that J.K. Simmons, the talented character actor from Whiplash and Spider-Man, voices the complex and ambitious General Ketheric Thorm.
Moreover, the trailer unveiled that players can expect split-screen co-op and full controller support when the game releases on PS5, PC, and Mac on August 31, 2023. Larian also announced two exclusive editions of the game, Baldur’s Gate 3 Deluxe Edition and Collector’s Edition, both available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store.
The Deluxe Edition includes a playable bard song pack, exclusive in-game dice skin, an adventurer’s pouch containing supplies, digital downloads of the soundtrack, artbook, and character sheets, and 72-hours early access to Act I of Baldur’s Gate 3 beginning August 28, 2023, for PS5 players. Additionally, it comes with items inspired by Divinity: Original Sin II, such as the Mask of the Shapeshifter and Cape of the Red Prince.
The Collector’s Edition offers all the contents of the Deluxe Edition, including early access to Act I of Baldur’s Gate 3 for PS5 players, plus a custom sticker sheet, a 25cm Mind Flayer vs. Drow battle diorama, a 160-page hardcover art book, a cloth map of Faerûn, a set of D&D-inspired origin character sheets, a metal tadpole keyring, a Magic: The Gathering booster pack, a custom-engraved metal d20, and a certificate of authenticity.
