This week’s RPG and turn-based strategy deals won’t just let you pick up big-name titles at seriously low prices; they’re also a great opportunity to discover a few smaller games you may have missed when they first launched. Two birds with one stone.
There are JRPGs, old-school CRPGs, tactical games, deckbuilders, survival RPGs, and several smaller games that might have slipped beneath your radar.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is the obvious headliner, but some of the more interesting bargains sit further down the list. A few releases also stretch beyond the usual turn-based boundaries, particularly Shortest Trip to Earth and No Plan B.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
75% off – $17.49, previously $69.99. Sale ends August 27.
This is easily the biggest name in the current selection. Infinite Wealth brings Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu together for an enormous adventure spanning Hawaii and Japan, supported by a flexible job system and turn-based battles where positioning, environmental attacks, and improvised weapons all matter.
For me, this is the first deal to examine. It is a substantial RPG with a huge amount of optional content, minigames, side stories, and party customization, and its current price is far below what you would normally expect for a release of this scale.
Lootbound
35% off – $9.74, previously $14.99. Introductory discount ends August 28.
Released on August 14, Lootbound is one of the newest games here. Each run begins with a lone adventurer, but companions can be recruited as you explore. Those allies act automatically during combat, placing much of the strategic weight on preparation, positioning, and party construction.
The inventory is equally important. Equipment occupies a grid, items can be rotated, and adjacency bonuses allow certain pieces to strengthen those placed nearby. You also assemble the final boss from different body parts, giving each expedition a slightly different target to prepare for.
The Last Spell
75% off – $6.24, previously $24.99. Sale ends September 5.
Few tactical RPGs capture the feeling of fighting a losing battle quite like The Last Spell. During the day, you rebuild defenses, purchase equipment, manage workers, and prepare a small group of heroes. Once night falls, enormous waves of mutated enemies advance toward the last remaining refuge.
There are never enough heroes to cover every approach, so movement, area attacks, action-point efficiency, and calculated retreats become vital. Character builds are largely determined by attributes, perks, and equipment, leaving plenty of room for unusual combinations. At $6.24, it is one of the easiest bargains to justify this week.
Lords of Xulima
40% off – $11.99, previously $19.99. Sale ends August 31.
Anyone missing the demanding party-based RPGs of the 1990s should take another look at Lords of Xulima. You create and manage a six-person party before setting out across a large fantasy world filled with hostile regions, temples, puzzles, towns, and enemies that can quickly punish an unprepared group.
Combat follows a traditional turn-based structure, while exploration requires close attention to food, party composition, resistances, and environmental hazards. It is a dense, sometimes unforgiving adventure, but that deliberate old-school approach remains its main attraction.
Three Kingdom: The Journey
70% off – $3.89, previously $12.99. Sale ends September 2.
The Three Kingdoms setting becomes the foundation for a deckbuilding roguelite in Three Kingdom: The Journey. You select three factions, recruit historical generals, construct an army, and expand a deck containing units, formations, spells, and tactical maneuvers.
Progress is also shaped by the route taken across the campaign map. Different territories lead to battles, events, rewards, and opportunities to strengthen particular strategies. At less than four dollars, it is a relatively inexpensive way to test a different interpretation of both deckbuilding and Three Kingdoms warfare.
Celestial Project
69% off – $3.09, previously $9.99. Sale ends August 31.
Celestial Project describes its combat as “WarChess,” placing three-character squads on compact nine-by-nine battlefields. Humanity is attempting to construct five enormous starships while alien forces descend upon Earth, leaving your teams to defend key locations and secure the resources needed for the evacuation.
Equipment and chips allow individual units to be modified between missions, while the small maps keep encounters focused on positioning and ability usage. This is one of the cheapest games in the roundup, although it is also among the lesser-known names.
ATOM RPG
60% off – $5.99, previously $14.99. Sale ends August 31.
Inspired by the early Fallout and Wasteland games, ATOM RPG transports the classic post-apocalyptic CRPG structure to an alternate Soviet wasteland. Character attributes, skills, dialogue choices, reputation, companions, and multiple quest solutions all play a central role.
Its turn-based battles can be harsh, particularly during the opening hours, but the real strength lies in exploring settlements and uncovering strange stories throughout the ruined landscape. Six dollars is a strong price for an RPG that can occupy dozens of hours, especially for anyone comfortable with slower, text-heavy adventures.
FRONT MISSION 2 & 3: Remake
Operational Vanguard Bundle – $22.38. Sale ends September 3.
Both remakes are currently discounted individually. FRONT MISSION 2: Remake is 70% off at $10.49, while FRONT MISSION 3: Remake is 50% off at $17.49. Steam’s Operational Vanguard bundle applies an additional reduction, bringing the pair down to $22.38.
Both games revolve around grid-based tactical battles between customizable Wanzers. FRONT MISSION 2 follows several perspectives during a military coup, while the third game contains two different story routes determined by an early decision. Buying the bundle is the more economical option for anyone interested in playing both campaigns.
Shortest Trip to Earth
77% off – $5.97, previously $25.99. Sale ends August 31.
Shortest Trip to Earth uses real-time tactical battles, but its emphasis on resource management and careful decision-making may still appeal to us. It takes the FTL formula with complex mechanics.
You command a customizable spacecraft during a dangerous journey across procedurally generated sectors, managing crew members, fuel, food, weapons, ship modules, and damage. Permadeath means one disastrous encounter can end the entire expedition. At under six dollars, it becomes a more approachable proposition for anyone curious about its detailed spaceship simulation.
Cris Tales
90% off – $3.99, previously $39.99. Sale ends August 31.
The deepest percentage reduction belongs to Cris Tales. This colorful turn-based JRPG allows past, present, and future versions of the same location to appear simultaneously. Decisions made in the present can visibly alter future environments, while protagonist Crisbell eventually gains the ability to manipulate time during combat.
Enemies can be pushed into the past or future, status effects can be accelerated, and party members can exploit different stages of a target’s timeline. The game did not work equally well for everyone, but four dollars is a much easier price at which to explore its unusual central idea.
Dark Chess
60% off – $5.19, previously $12.99. Sale ends August 31.
Dark Chess sits closer to puzzle strategy than RPG, turning traditional chess into an asymmetric game played beneath a fog of war. Pieces cannot immediately see the entire board, forcing both sides to scout, anticipate attacks, and account for threats that may still be hidden.
Its campaign also introduces special boards, traps, unconventional objectives, and rule-breaking versions of familiar pieces. The result is less about memorizing established chess openings and more about solving tactical situations under incomplete information.
Classified: France ’44
Overlord Edition: 80% off – $9.99, previously $49.99. Sale ends September 7.
Pay close attention to the edition listed on Steam. The heavily discounted package is the Overlord Edition, which contains the base game and its Season Pass. The standard edition remains listed at $34.99, so the larger package is currently the cheaper purchase.
Set shortly before D-Day, Classified: France ’44 follows Allied commandos working alongside the French Resistance. Missions support stealth, ambushes, suppression, and direct combat, while the broader campaign asks you to weaken German control across occupied France. At $9.99 for the expanded edition, this is one of the strongest tactical deals in the entire roundup.
Chains of Freedom
40% off – $14.99, previously $24.99. Sale ends August 31.
A military operation gradually develops into something far stranger in Chains of Freedom. Set in a fictional version of Eastern Europe, the campaign follows an elite squad investigating a conspiracy involving a rogue scientist, biological experiments, and a serum capable of manipulating human minds.
Combat is turn-based and squad-focused, with weapons ranging from conventional firearms and mortars to axes and flamethrowers. Biocrystals and consumable items provide additional ways to shape each character’s role. It is not the largest reduction here, but the game is also considerably newer than many of the heavily discounted releases.
Guild of Hunters
80% off – $1.79, previously $8.99. Sale ends August 31.
At $1.79, Guild of Hunters is the least expensive game in the current lineup. The premise has you managing an adventurers’ guild, recruiting hunters, training them, negotiating with merchants, and sending parties on expeditions into dangerous regions.
Turn-based battles are only one part of the structure. You also need to manage supplies and deal with the spreading miasma that threatens both your hunters and the wider world. It is a small and relatively unknown RPG, but the current price places it firmly in curiosity-purchase territory.
9 Kings
50% off – $9.99, previously $19.99. Sale ends September 5.
9 Kings is not a conventional turn-based RPG. It is a roguelite kingdom builder where cards represent buildings, troops, spells, and other additions to your growing territory. Their placement matters, and increasingly strange interactions emerge as bonuses begin stacking on top of one another.
Battles resolve after your kingdom has been arranged, shifting the strategic work toward construction and preparation. Rival kings introduce different armies and mechanics, while asynchronous multiplayer lets you test a kingdom against creations made by other users.
Bearnard
50% off – $8.49, previously $16.99. Sale ends August 31.
The unusual hook behind Bearnard is that cards are played by physically firing arrows. Landing the shot activates the selected card, while missing can cost you the action entirely. It turns a familiar deckbuilding structure into something more tactile, with accuracy becoming part of the resource-management puzzle.
Outside combat, the bear protagonist solves physics-based environmental challenges while attempting to recover his legendary bow. It is easily one of the stranger concepts in the roundup, and the current discount cuts the entry price in half.
Darkest Dungeon II
69% off – $12.39, previously $39.99. Sale ends September 1.
The sequel transforms the dungeon-crawling structure of the original into a dangerous stagecoach expedition. You assemble four heroes, plot a route through hostile regions, manage stress and relationships, and try to keep the party functioning long enough to reach the mountain.
Turn-based battles retain the importance of position and status effects, while the relationship system can produce both powerful combinations and disruptive conflicts. The base game now also contains Kingdoms, a separate strategic campaign built around defending territories against spreading threats. At $12.39, this is another particularly strong reduction.
The Crazy Hyper-Dungeon Chronicles
50% off – $4.99, previously $9.99. Sale ends September 7.
Turn-based commands meet timing-based actions in The Crazy Hyper-Dungeon Chronicles. Choosing an attack is only the first step: swings, defensive moves, and other abilities may require properly timed inputs, adding a small real-time component to each exchange.
The game surrounds those battles with colorful pixel art, changing dungeon layouts, character progression, and a deliberately odd sense of humor. It looks less serious than most of the RPGs listed here, but its combat system has more going on beneath the surface than the presentation initially suggests.
Subterrain: Mines of Titan
45% off – $10.99, previously $19.99. Sale ends September 5.
Subterrain: Mines of Titan is a turn-based survival RPG set inside an abandoned mining colony on Saturn’s largest moon. After arriving to investigate what happened, you must explore the settlement, search for survivors, repair essential infrastructure, and uncover the source of the disaster.
Time advances through actions, so exploration and combat constantly consume valuable resources. Food, equipment, shelter, and the condition of your base can become just as important as winning an encounter. It is a slower and more methodical experience, built around the pressure of keeping a struggling colony alive.
No Plan B
30% off – $10.49, previously $14.99. Sale ends August 31.
The final game also requires a genre clarification. No Plan B does not use conventional turn-based battles. Instead, you prepare a synchronized sequence of movements, door breaches, attacks, grenade throws, and other commands before watching the entire operation unfold in real time.
Every squad member follows the timeline you constructed, and one overlooked doorway or poorly timed movement can ruin the mission.
Its tactical depth lies in preparation, experimentation, and understanding how several actions interact within the same few seconds. Anyone who enjoys planning an operation more than manually controlling every shot should find plenty to work with here.
