20 Turn-Based RPGs on Sale - January 12, 2026

My recommendations on some of the best RPGs and strategy games you can find on Super Sconto.

It’s always a good idea to add a few new games to your library, and being able to do so without hitting your wallet too hard is even better, so that’s why I put together these 20 recommendations.

Another Steam Sale has come and gone, and with it, perhaps a bit of regret. Chances are, you can’t get every game that’s discounted, so the FOMO always runs strong after each of Steam’s discount bonanzas.

Luckily, deals aren’t limited to just a few times a year. If you open up your Wishlist on Steam, chances are at least one game has that lovely little green tag next to its price. If you’re looking for a new turn-based game to play in the new year, these sales are a great way to do so without breaking the bank.

As Far As The Eye

  • Developer: Unexpected
  • Release Date: 10 September, 2020
  • Platforms: Windows, Linux, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Steam Page
As Far as the Eye

Goblinz Publishing is known for publishing bright, fascinating games, and As Far As The Eye fits that description perfectly.

Think of it as a turn-based The Wandering Village; you’ll build your mobile city as you guide it across the world, bringing on new villagers and seeing to their needs. As a roguelike, it offers lots of options and opportunities to start a new journey.

As Far As The Eye is a few years old at this point, which is great for anyone who hasn’t had a chance to try it yet. Steam has it on sale for just $4.99 until 21 January, an 80% discount off its usual price of $24.99. You can also get it as part of the Supporter Bundle for just $10.12, adding the Supporter cosmetics and soundtrack to the package.

Jack Move

  • Developer: So Romantic
  • Release Date: 8 September, 2022
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Steam Page
Jack Move

Jack Move is a short but charming JRPG that blends neon-drenched cyberpunk with lovely pixel art and a great mystery.

As a hacker called Noa, you’ll explore the physical and digital world to uncover the secrets of the Monomind Corporation. By changing the programs you have equipped during hack battles, you’ll be able to adjust Noa’s combat role to suit the situation.

Jack Move is a lovely game worth picking up at its standard price of $19.99, but until 19 January it’s available on Steam for 70% off. $5.99 is a steal, and if you’re looking for more RPGs with female protagonists Jack Move is also available bundled with occult adventure Black Book.

Old World

  • Developer: Mohawk Games
  • Release Date: 19 May, 2022
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux
  • Steam Page
Old World Pc Game

Old World is a rock-solid 4X strategy game that blends the classic gameplay of Civilization with the courtly machinations of Crusader Kings.

Not only do you need to manage cities, claim territory, and wage wars, but you’ll also have to assign courtiers to important posts, manage succession, and keep the noble families of your empire satisfied.

True to its name, Old World limits its scope to the Bronze and Iron Ages, but don’t be fooled, it offers the full strategic experience and loads of historical flavor.

Old World is a whopping 90% off on Steam until 22 January, bringing its price down from $39.99 to just $3.99. In fact, you can get the complete bundle that includes all of the game’s DLC for $39.26, still saving a bit off the standard price of the base game!

Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga

  • Developer: Dancing Dragon Games
  • Release Date: 10 June, 2022
  • Platforms: Windows
  • Steam Page
Symphony of War DLC

If you love tactical RPGs like Fire Emblem but want to try something just a little different, Symphony of War is the indie game for you.

Its grid-based battles in a war-torn fantasy world feel instantly familiar, but The Nephilim Saga‘s formation system, which lets each hero command a small squad of troops and resolves battles accordingly, adds a new layer of depth to the classic gameplay style.

Symphony of War is 65% off on Steam until 19 January, taking it from $19.99 down to $6.99. The Deluxe and Collector’s edition are also discounted, or you can get the game bundled with Dark Deity, Tyrant’s Blessing, and Dream Tactics for enough fantasy warfare to last the rest of the winter, all for just $17.38.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns

  • Developer: Firaxis Games
  • Release Date: 2 December, 2022
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox
  • Steam Page
Marvel's Midnight Suns Gameplay

As it turns out, superheroes are a great subject for tactical RPGs. Their unique powers make each playable character unique beyond the usual distinctions of classes, the stakes are always high, and you get to start out strong then get stronger.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns does an excellent job of bringing big-name characters to life in thrilling XCOM-style combat.

Midnight Suns is 80% off on Steam, but with a caveat; the deal only applies to the Digital+ Edition. That means you’ll have to get the DLC on your own, but saving 80% off of the Digital+ Edition’s usual price tag of $79.99 is a hard deal to pass up. That’s the base game plus 11 alternate costumes for just $15.99.

Company of Heroes 3

  • Developer: Relic Entertainment
  • Release Date: 23 February, 2023
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox
  • Steam Page
Company Of Heroes 3

Company of Heroes 3 may have had a rough launch, but one of the great things about gaming in the 2020s is that patches and updates can smooth things over.

If you stayed away from this World War II strategy game back in 2023, now is a fine time to give it another look. Whether you’re playing in campaign or multiplayer, COH3 brings the Mediterranean Theatre to life in stunning detail, letting you take command in pulse-pounding battles.

Company of Heroes 3 is 60% off on Steam until 19 January, taking it from $59.99 down to $23.99. If you want to go all-in, you can get the Ultimate Bundle, which includes all of the DLC, for $82.84, saving 35% off the total package. In fact, the entire Company of Heroes franchise is on sale, with the first and second games discounted to $3.99 and $4.99, respectively.

Beneath Oresa

  • Developer: Broken Spear, Inc.
  • Release Date: 27 September, 2023
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Steam Page
Beneath Oresa

Beneath Oresa combines Slay The Spire-style deckbuilding combat with lively comic-book visuals, injecting fantasy action into a strategic turn-based game.

Building your deck by combining a main hero and a companion, you’ll be able to discover loads of different builds as you blend hand management with battlefield positioning.

Beneath Oresa is one of the better deckbuilders out there, so if cards and combos are your jam don’t let this one pass you by. It’s 60% off on Steam until 21 January, down from $24.99 to jjust $9.99. It’s also available bundled with Shuffle Tactics, letting you get both games for just $22.48.

Worldless

  • Developer: Noname Studios
  • Release Date: 20 November, 2023
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Steam Page
Worldless

Imagine if Clair Obscur were a platformer, and you’ll have a good starting idea of what to expect from Worldless.

There’s plenty of dashing, jumping, and climbing to do as you explore the game’s stylized universe, and you’ll need to manage your timing on attack and defense in turn-based battles in order to survive. It’s very flashy and very pretty.

Worldless normally sells on Steam for $19.99, but until 22 January it’s 60% off, knocking the price down to $7.99. The Deluxe Edition, which includes the soundtrack, is 48% off at $11.68. There’s also a free demo available, and you can get Worldless bundled with three other platformers for a total of $37.36.

Star Renegades

  • Developer: Massive Damage, Inc.
  • Release Date: 8 September, 2020
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Steam Page
Star Renegades

With its high-pixel visuals and eye-popping animated cutscenes, Star Renegades makes a strong first impression.

Throw in a dimension-hopping roguelike story and gameplay that brings a modern twist to classic JRPG exploration and combat, and it’s easy to see how this game got rave reviews when it launched back in 2020.

If you missed Star Renegades the first time around, now is a fantastic time to jump in; it’s 80% off on Steam, letting you get this $24.99 title for just $4.99. You can also get the Deluxe Edition for just $6.69, or get it bundled with Massive Damage’s earlier (and also excellent) game, Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander for $16.98.

Dark Deity

  • Developer: Sword & Axe LLC
  • Release Date: 15 June, 2021
  • Platforms: Windows, Switch
  • Steam Page
Dark Deity

If you’re excited for this year’s new Fire Emblem game, then Dark Deity is a great way to stay hyped before launch.

From its visuals to its gameplay, Dark Deity feels like a lost GBA entry in the classic franchise, but with unique gameplay twists and its own cast of enchanting characters.

The first Dark Deity is 80% off on Steam until 19 January, taking it from $24.99 to just $4.99. You can also get it in a Deluxe Edition which includes all the DLC for $20.67. Dark Deity II is also discounted 30% from $24.99 to $17.49, or you can get both games bundled together for just $20.23.

Hero’s Hour

  • Developer: Benjamin “ThingOnItsOwn” Hauer
  • Release Date: 1 March, 2022
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Steam Page
Hero's Hour

Hero’s Hour feels like an homage to Heroes of Might and Magic, but with chaotic, swarming battles to decide the fate of each map. It’s the kind of game that will hook you right away, so it’s no surprise that there’s a sequel slated to launch this year.

There’s still plenty of time to play the original, and since it’s discounted 60% on Steam until 21 January, there’s no time like the present. You can get this $17.99 title for just $7.19, or get the complete bundle for $12.04, which includes both DLC. Hero’s Hour is also available as part of the Goblinz Best Sellers Bundle, or just with their recent survival game Sandwalkers.

Cassette Beasts

  • Developer: Bytten Studios
  • Release Date: 26 April, 2023
  • Platforms: Windows, Linux, Xbox, Switch, Android, iOS
  • Steam Page
Cassette Beasts

There are plenty of Pokemon-likes out there, but few with the panache of Cassette Beasts. More than just another monster trainer, Cassette Beasts offers a fresh, colorful world and a unique spin on the usual formula; instead of just deploying your creatures, you’ll combine them on the fly to create the perfect combatant for the situation at hand.

Cassette Beasts is a great addition to a creature catcher’s collection, and until 17 January you can get it for just $8.99 on Steam. That’s 55% off its regular price of $19.99! The New Wirral Edition, which includes all of the DLC and cosmetics, is just $15.55 during the sale period as well, or you can get Cassette Beasts as part of a couple of different bundles.

Every Day We Fight

  • Developer: Signal Space Lab
  • Release Date: 10 July, 2025
  • Platforms: Windows
  • Steam Page
Every Day We fight

Every Day We Fight is an ambitious tactical roguelike that’s like Into The Breach mixed with XCOM (or, perhaps more accurately, Phoenix Point for its first-person shooting option).

As a squad of resistance fighters against an alien invasion, you’ll take advantage of a time loop to fight the enemy in every possible reality.

It’s an ambitious game, but so far the Early Access period has been very promising. If you’re looking to get in on the ground floor, Every Day We Fight is 50% off on Steam until 22 January; that’s $14.99 instead of its usual $29.99.

It’s also part of a few bundles with other Hooded Horse games, and given how great that publisher’s eye has been for strategy titles over the last several years, they’re worth a look!

Echo Generation: Midnight Edition

  • Developer: Cococucumber
  • Release Date: 19 June, 2024
  • Platforms: Windows, Xbox, Switch
  • Steam Page
RPG like Stranger Things

If the finale of Stranger Things has you looking for more youngsters battling supernatural terrors, Echo Generation has exactly what you need.

In this voxel-art RPG, you’ll lead a group of kids in the ’90s as they investigate the strange happenings in their small town. By finding comic books, you’ll unlock minigames, new skills, and buffs to help you in Echo Generation‘s timed-input battles.

Echo Generation isn’t on sale for as long as most of the other games on this list. It’s 45% off on Steam, taking it from $24.99 to $13.74, but only until 12 January so you’ll have to act fast. You can also get it bundled with Riverbons and Ravenlok for more rich voxel adventure from Cococucumber.

Subterrain: Mines of Titan

  • Developer: Pixellore Inc.
  • Release Date: 12 March, 2024
  • Platforms: Windows
  • Steam Page
Subterrain Mines of Titan

Turn-based survival games can be deceptively challenging, and you’ll need to really put your skills to the test if you want to unravel the mystery of Subterrain: Mines of Titan.

Trapped in an abandoned mining facility, you’ll battle mutants and other dangers as you scrounge, scavenge, and search for a way to safety.

Mines of Titan is a great pick if you’re looking for a game to keep you on your toes, and until 19 January you can get it on Steam for $10.99. That’s 45% off its usual price of $19.99. You can also get the Deluxe Edition, which includes the soundtrack, for $13.26, or bundle the game with Sands of Aura or Airship for $16.78 or $21.98, respectively.

ENDLESS Legend 2

  • Developer: Amplitude Studios
  • Release Date: 22 September, 2025
  • Platforms: Windows
  • Steam Page
Endless Legend 2

Amplitude’s Endless Universe is known for its lore-filled world and engaging strategy gameplay, and even though it’s just in Early Access Endless Legend 2 is shaping up to be no different.

Trading in the frozen world of Auriga for the flooded Saiadha, Endless Legend 2 brings classic factions and new faces to their unique brand of 4X strategy.

Endless Legend 2 still has a way to go before launch, but what’s available in Early Access is a great sign of things to come. Even if you plan to wait until 1.0, it could be a good idea to grab it now while it’s on sale; 40% off of what’s likely to be one of the best strategy games around once it’s done is nothing to sneeze at.

You can get it for $29.99, down from $49.99, until 22 January, or buy Endless Legend 2 as part of a couple of different Hooded Horse bundles.

Battle Brothers

  • Developer: Overhype Studios
  • Release Date: 24 March, 2017
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Steam Page
Battle Brothers

With its unforgiving gameplay and endless supply of potential war stories, Battle Brothers is a beloved sandbox mercenary sim.

Whether you’re skirmishing with ragtag bandits for scraps to sell at market or leading the charge against an army of the undead, all it takes is one mistake or some bad luck to take out your elite warriors… but the same is true of your foes. Brutally tough but fair, Battle Brothers will always keep you coming back for more punishment.

It’s been around for a while, so it’s fairly common to see Battle Brothers on sale. Until 22 January, it’s $8.99 on Steam, down 70% from its standard $29.99 price tag. You can also get the Complete Edition for $29.56 during the sale period, getting the base game and all DLC for around the same as you’d pay for just the vanilla version on a normal day.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – Enhanced Edition

  • Developer: Owlcat Games
  • Release Date: 2 September, 2021
  • Platforms: Windows, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Steam Page
Top 30 Isometric RPG - 2022 Edition

You probably know Owlcat Games for their grimdark spacefaring masterpiece Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, but before they were commanding voidships, Owlcat was bringing the fan-favorite Pathfinder TTRPG to life.

Wrath of the Righteous has Owlcat’s engrossing gameplay as you battle demons in a tale of good versus evil.

Like any good CRPG, Wrath of the Righteous has tons of content and replay value, so even at its normal price of $19.99 it’s great value. It’s 70% off on Steam until 13 January, though, so if you act fast you can get countless hours of adventure for just $5.99.

Alternately, you could get the Game of the Year Edition, which includes all the DLC, for just $14.99, or bundle the game with the aforementioned Rogue Trader for $50.38.

Othercide

  • Developer: Lightbulb Crew
  • Release Date: 27 July, 2020
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
  • Steam Page
Othercide

Othercide grabs your attention with its edgy, black-and-white visuals, and its tactical gameplay is excellent as well.

With small squads and fights that require you to cleverly manage your initiative order, it offers the same challenge (and satisfaction that comes with mastery) as any soulslike, but in a turn-based form.

Othercide is discounted an incredible 90% on Steam until 19 January, putting this $29.99 game at just $2.99. You can also get it with the soundtrack and digital artbook for just $9.93; it’s a shorter game compared to other tactical RPGs out there, but well worth it, especially at this rock-bottom price.

OCTOPATH TRAVELER + OCTOPATH TRAVELER II Bundle

  • Developer: Square Enix
  • Release Date: 7 June, 2019
  • Platforms: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, Android
  • Steam Page
Octopath Traveler Best RPGs of All time

Octopath Traveler 0 represents a new direction for the series, but both of the previous games are considered modern classics for a reason, and still well worth playing. Square Enix games tend to be a bit on the pricey side, so it’s a good idea to find deals where you can.

Steam has Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 available as a bundle for $74.38. Considering that individually they’re $59.99 each, if you’re going to get one you may as well drop the extra $15 or so to get both. That saves you 38% off the total.

Best of all, this bundles seems to be a part of Steam’s regular catalog, so there’s less of a time limit if you’re thinking about taking the plunge.

Those were some of my recommendations; now I’m looking forward to your feedback. Wishing you a great start to the week. Ciao
