Astra Bestiary On Kickstarter

Introduced last month on TBL, monster-taming RPG Astra Bestiary is now live on Kickstarter.

A 2D monster-raising RPG built around a legacy system, a non-linear world, and fast, turn-based battles. The campaign runs October 7–November 6 with a €6,000 goal, and early-bird tiers are available.

The indie studio Bicho Feo has officially launched a Kickstarter campaign for Astra Bestiary: Monster Raising RPG, an ambitious new take on the monster-taming genre that blends retro aesthetics with innovative legacy mechanics.

Players begin their journey by hatching creatures from eggs, training them, and guiding them through branching evolutions.

However, what sets Astra Bestiary apart is its core idea that death is not the end. When a beast dies, it releases an orb filled with the strength and memories of its life. That orb can then be passed down to a new creature, allowing players to build a lineage of increasingly powerful monsters shaped by past generations.

Depending on how a player raises their beast, whether they focus on combat, exploration, or support roles, it may evolve into different final forms like monarchs, tyrants, or archons.

The open world of Yselion, a once-great civilization now in ruins, is at the center of the adventure. Players ride their adult monsters to explore its landscapes, uncover ancient secrets, and compile knowledge in a growing Bestiary that expands organically through gameplay.

Visually, the game embraces a pixel art style inspired by classic JRPGs, but adds modern animations and vibrant effects to give each battle and creature life. The world design and tone aim to strike a balance between nostalgic charm and thoughtful depth.

The Kickstarter campaign launched on October 7, 2025, with a modest funding goal of €6,000. Early momentum has been promising, with over €2,000 already pledged within the first couple of days. The campaign offers early bird tiers and digital rewards, and the developer is encouraging interested players to back early, as limited slots may go quickly.

A playable demo is available on Steam, giving players a taste of the game’s mechanics and atmosphere. The most recent update added new beast variants and improved the skill-learning system, signaling an ongoing commitment to polish and responsiveness.

Slated for release in 2026, Astra Bestiary will launch first on PC via Steam, with other platforms potentially to follow depending on the campaign’s success.

It’s a passion project clearly designed for fans of monster-taming RPGs who are looking for something more reflective and experimental.
