One Fenix Down RPG

Last week, I told you about Seed Of Pandora, an intriguing homage to classic Super Nintendo RPGs that’s currently on Kickstarter. But there’s another RPG that is also inspired by those bygone days. It’s called One Fenix Down, and it’s in the midst of its own Kickstarter campaign. With about 15 days left, it has already reached its minimum funding goal.

One Fenix Down RPG

One Fenix Down is a retro-inspired JRPG that seeks to capture the magic of classic SNES-era titles like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Set in the richly detailed world of Teren, this story-driven game follows Fenix Strauss, a young miner with a mysterious past, as he embarks on a quest to redeem himself and protect his homeland from the looming threat of the Goa Empire.

Featuring over 14 playable characters, players will explore a vast world filled with 250+ unique enemies and 300+ pieces of equipment, all beautifully rendered in lovingly crafted pixel art. The game emphasizes strategic turn-based combat, where mastering elemental weaknesses and unleashing powerful Excedo abilities are key to victory. With 30-40 hours of content, One Fenix Down promises a nostalgic yet fresh RPG experience.

The game offers more than just combat; it weaves a complex narrative filled with themes of war, betrayal, and redemption, deeply influenced by character relationships. Exploration is crucial as players uncover hidden items and powerful equipment scattered across various locations.

The Kickstarter campaign aims to enhance the game’s features with additional funding, such as a soundtrack by renowned vocalist Emi Evans and console ports for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. With a demo available on Steam, players can dive into a short vertical slice of the game, taking control of seasoned warriors to defend the Kingdom of Torloria and uncover the secrets behind the Goa Empire’s invasion. One Fenix Down is expected for a Q4 2025 release. Below an overview, screens and trailer.

Story

Seven years ago the Kingdom of Torloria was besieged by the bestial Goa Empire. Through decisive strategic planning and the sacrifice of countless heroes the Iron Guard of Torloria managed to keep the relentless hordes of Goa at bay. The Kingdom now finds respite under a thin veil of peace.

“The Roshel mines are undermanned.”

In the country’s outskirts, many of the young are summoned to the frontlines while those who remain toil in the mines, seeking a rare resource coveted by a religious order.

The sudden reappearance of monsters in the mines will spur one young miner to challenge his destiny — to confront his shameful past, seek redemption, and carve out a legacy befitting the son of the fabled ‘Hero of Torloria.’

To succeed he must decipher a cryptic message that he alone can hear:

“You must protect Fate.”

His is a journey fraught with tribulation, but his companions just might be the strength he needs to overcome the trials that lie ahead.

Will they rise to the occasion, and together save Fate from the forces that lurk in the shadows?
