Elements Destiny JRPG

This is the first time I’ve seen a video game tagged as a JIGRPG, which stands for Japanese Inspired German Role Playing Game. It’s a bit unusual, but it actually makes perfect sense. In fact, I think it’s the right approach when introducing JRPGs that, in the end, aren’t from Japan. So, kudos to the developer ShrooMoon UG, who just released a gameplay trailer for their intriguing JRPG—sorry, JIGRPG—Elements Destiny.

Elements Destiny Gameplay

Elements Destiny is a 2D fantasy RPG that expertly combines the nostalgic charm of pixelated visuals with a modern twist, offering an immersive journey in the world of Solitas. Developer ShrooMoon UG and publisher by Deck13 Spotlight, brings a deep, intricate narrative alongside challenging, turn-based combat. Players take on the role of Erika, a descendant of the Clans of the Elements, as she embarks on a perilous quest to stop a looming shadow crusade.

Throughout the game, Erika is joined by other chosen heroes, each possessing unique elemental powers that not only influence combat but also help in overcoming environmental obstacles. With a story where nothing is as it seems, players must piece together the mysteries of Solitas, making choices that could alter the fate of the world.

Elements Destiny promises a 80-100 hour adventure filled with handcrafted artwork, fully voiced dialogues by renowned German anime voice actors, and an expansive soundtrack featuring over 100 tracks. The game’s turn-based combat requires players to master the elements and craft unique items, offering depth and replayability.

Exhibited at Gamescom’s Indie Arena Booth, the game has been seven years in the making, but the idea behind it has been nurtured for nearly two decades. With its engaging story, challenging gameplay, and retro aesthetics, Elements Destiny is poised to be a must-play for fans of both classic and modern RPGs when it releases soon on PC and consoles.
