I’ve been following it for a long time, and I’ve finally been able to try out Reverse Collapse: Code NameBakery, a tactical turn-based RPG being developed by Shanghai Sunborn Network Technology and published by XD that has published a lengthy demo for the entire duration of Steam Next Fest of June 2023.
Reverse Collapse propels the player into a future world during a second Cold War where intrigue and personal stories are skillfully told with a highly inspired anime graphic style.
As I mentioned at the start, the demo is very long and does an excellent job of introducing the game’s mechanics. But what is Reverse Collapse? Answering the question is not difficult, as it is a tactical RPG in the style of games like Advance Wars but with a much deeper tactical component due to the stealth mechanics present in the title.
I have prepared a gameplay video that introduces all the core mechanics that you can find below, along with an overview of the title through the Steam page. Reverse Collapse: Code Name Bakery is currently in development and slated for PC and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2023.
Reverse Collapse: Code Name Bakery is a tactical role-playing game developed by MICA Team. The story happens in the future, the world is plagued by war and resource crisis because of the Collapse Fluid pollution. During the world‘s post-war reconstruction process, two factions began their confrontation.
Military conflicts started between the newly formed “Antarctic Union” and the “URNC” (Union of Rocksatterism Nations Coalition) after a short period of peace. They started to fight over the result of the “Three Goddesses Project” which could change the progress of the war completely.
Mendo, an operative from MID (the Antarctic Union’s intelligence agency) is ambushed in a vital mission in the North Caucasus. He is saved by a girl with silver hair named “Jefuty”. Facing the harsh terrains, overwhelming URNC soldiers, and unknown force pulling the strings behind the scenes. Mendo and Jefuty work together to overcome impossible odds and survive. But they find themselves being pursued by both factions.
As the situation escalates, a massive conspiracy surrounding code name “Bakery” surfaces.
