Yesterday, I took a look at 17 Square Enix games with some pretty big discounts. Today, I’m turning my attention to those of you who would rather pick up something a little more Western, although you’ll still find one JRPG in the mix.

The hand-painted presentation suits that emphasis on travel and discovery. This is a different proposition from a combat-heavy party RPG, and the strongest reason to explore it is how everyday activities support a larger fantasy campaign.

Power Chord replaces the usual fantasy adventuring party with a band of musicians fighting demonic rivals. Each member contributes their own cards and equipment, so choosing the lineup also determines the combinations available in your deck.
There is a useful consequence to that structure: when a musician falls, you lose access to their cards in subsequent battles until you revive them at a rest stop. Protecting a character can therefore preserve an important part of your strategy.
Branching routes lead through fights, merchants, events, and recovery points, giving this roguelite deckbuilder familiar decisions between battles. The band-based party system is the main reason to take a closer look.
Miasma Chronicles

Another Crusade is quite old RPG that can scratch that JRPG itch. Its characters resemble wooden puppets, moving through 3D environments where running, jumping, and solving puzzles take you between encounters.
Battles use turn-based commands, but well-timed inputs improve attacks and defenses, while magic has its own button sequences. Those mechanics keep you involved after choosing an action.
The adventure follows Rai Reysend and his companions as they investigate mysterious barriers, with a lighthearted tone and plenty of comic situations. At this price, it is one of the less expensive ways to try a smaller RPG with a distinctive presentation.
Cassette Beasts

Cassette Beasts has a particularly good twist on monster collecting: recording a creature lets your character transform into it. You explore the island of New Wirral alongside a human companion, collecting forms whose abilities also help with traversal and puzzles.
During turn-based battles, two forms can fuse into a new creature, while elemental interactions can apply status effects or even change an opponent’s type. Relationships with companions also influence fusion, connecting character development to combat.
Between experimenting with transformations and using new abilities to reach unexplored areas, there are several reasons to keep revisiting the island. It is one of the first games I would investigate in this discount roundup.
For The King II

For The King II is the most obvious pick here for a group looking to share an RPG campaign. Up to four people can adventure together, although solo play lets you control the entire party yourself.
Exploration, encounters, and turn-based combat use dice-inspired systems, with procedural maps adding uncertainty to each journey. That tabletop influence means plans need room for an unlucky result, particularly when coordinating several characters across the campaign.
Failed attempts also contribute to future runs through additional starting options. Both online and local cooperative play are supported, so gathering everyone around the same PC is an alternative to organizing an online session.

The warm pixel art and 1960s setting give Bloomtown an inviting appearance, but the story takes that comfortable atmosphere in a much darker direction.
