Here’s another one of those titles I’m ready to dive into blind, because it brings back my past and everything I’ve loved since those long-gone days.
It comes from Lovely Hellplace, the studio behind the acclaimed dark fantasy RPG Dread Delusion, and if you love a touch of retro charm, this one is for you, too.

Their next title, Entropy, shifts from the real-time first-person combat of their debut to a tactical turn-based system inspired by classic JRPGs. Once again published by DreadXP, the game embraces the same retro 3D aesthetic but applies it to a different kind of adventure.
Entropy takes place in a dying world where humanity has withered not through cataclysm, but through time and infertility. The remaining towns are squalid, medieval, and often ruled by tyrants, while strange and accursed creatures haunt the lands between them.

The story begins in the town of Draenog, where a simple theatre performance is interrupted by demons breaking through the gates. Players start the journey as a thespian armed with nothing more than a wooden prop sword, forced to rally the troupe and survive the incursion.
From there, the narrative expands across a poisoned world map, taking players through settlements filled with colorful characters, grim rulers, and hostile monsters.

Battles unfold through a tactical turn-based system, with players controlling a party of up to six characters. When a member falls, mercenaries can be hired to replace them.
Progression comes through leveling, stat increases, and the unlocking of perks, giving each adventurer a sense of growth across the campaign. The design emphasizes careful positioning, party management, and adaptation in the face of a relentless demonic invasion.
The visual direction continues Lovely Hellplace’s focus on unsettling atmospheres, presenting a retro-styled world of barren landscapes, grotesque creatures, and corrupted towns.

Like Dread Delusion, the game blends the sinister and the sublime; however, here the structure seems to lean more towards strategy than exploration.
DreadXP describes the project as a hellish, brutal take on the tactical RPG formula, offering both nostalgic combat design and a bleak, imaginative setting.
Entropy is planned for release on PC via Steam in 2026, with the first playable demo available at PAX West 2025 from August 29 to September 1 at the DreadXP booth. Below are more details and the announcement trailer.
About This Game
In this dying age, only pockets of humanity remain. There was no apocalyptic event to speak of; only the cruel march of time and the inexplicable infertility of the world. Accursed creatures stalk the barren lands between settlements, which are themselves terrible places; squalid, medieval and mostly ruled by tyrants.
Our story begins in the town of Draenog, where the theatre performance you are putting on is interrupted by fighting at the gates. Demons have arrived. Your wooden sword will have to do for now, gather the troupe and defend yourselves!
Entropy is a post-apocalyptic role-playing game with an expansive world map, explorable towns filled with colorful characters, and a tactical turn-based battle system.
