Hungry Horrors is a roguelite deck-builder where cooking takes center stage instead of combat. Developed by Clumsy Bear Studio, this indie game pits you against mythical creatures, but instead of slaying them with weapons, you must prepare dishes to satisfy their monstrous appetites.
You play as a princess, navigating a world filled with legends like Black Annis, Jenny Greenteeth, and Grendel. Each creature has unique cravings, and it’s your task to decipher their tastes and cook up authentic regional dishes like Haggis, Stargazy Pie, or Cranachan to keep them from devouring you. If your meals fall short, you risk becoming their next meal.
The game’s deck-building mechanics revolves around collecting recipes, ingredients, and upgrades. As you progress, you’ll return to your base with new cooking skills, allowing you to venture further in each run. Exploring the British and Irish landscapes, you’ll uncover hidden secrets, legendary artifacts, and even familiars who can assist you on your journey.
