The latest footage offers fresh looks at HD-2D combat, tactical roguelites, a hand-painted deckbuilding RPG, and an alternate vision of 19th-century Japan.
Since the latest news has mostly been about new trailers, I figured I’d round them up into a single article. There’s quite a bit to check out, including a new gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy Resonance, the debut trailer for the tactical roguelite Dead Weight, and more.
From Square Enix’s return to pixel-based turn-based combat to smaller tactical projects built around deckbuilding, environmental interactions, and roguelite progression.
Square Enix has released a new Pixel Trailer for Final Fantasy Resonance, placing its HD-2D presentation and traditional RPG structure under the spotlight.
The footage moves between towns, overworld exploration, story sequences, and battles, showing how the game combines pixel characters with dynamic camera work. Combat revolves around exploiting weaknesses to stagger enemies, gain additional turns, and activate Resonance attacks with Visions based on characters from across the series.
Final Fantasy Resonance launches October 22, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. Game details.
Dog in the Machine received a new gameplay trailer during the Secret Sauce Showcase, accompanied by confirmation of a September 29, 2026, PC release. Developed by Studio Chahut, this tactical roguelite follows an AutoDog attempting to escape a dystopian mechanical city.
Battles take place on compact grids packed with conveyor belts, explosives, switches, and other interactive elements that can trigger chain reactions.
Players can preview an entire sequence before committing to it, while new “Tricks” can be combined to create increasingly specialized abilities during each run. Game details.
The latest overview trailer for Mirage: Miracle Quest provides a closer explanation of its mixture of classic turn-based combat and deckbuilding. Players take control of Mirage, a young exorcist traveling across the hand-painted continent of Andafy after a mysterious creature attacks her hometown.
Skills are represented through cards connected to magical wands, accessories, and character progression, allowing party members to be adjusted around different strategies and combinations.
The trailer also touches on exploration, towns, side activities, and the game’s magical-girl influences. A release date has not yet been announced. Game details.
Dead Weight is now available on PC, with its launch accompanied by a new trailer covering the main parts of its steampunk roguelite structure. Players command a flying pirate ship, travel between floating islands, recruit crew members, and confront Ancient Gods in tactical turn-based battles.
Combat unfolds on particularly small maps, making positioning and movement important when avoiding hazards or pushing enemies into dangerous spaces.
Between encounters, the ship and its four playable characters can be developed through equipment, individual skill trees, and different class builds. Game details.
Another Angle Games and Owlcat Games have presented a different side of Shadow of the Road through its new Journey Trailer. The video tours several locations from its alternate version of 19th-century Japan, where the conflict between the Shōgun and Emperor has been transformed by advanced machinery.
Traditional villages and temples sit alongside steam-powered installations, while soldiers, mechanical weapons, kami, and yōkai all occupy the same war-torn setting.
The story-driven tactical RPG is currently planned for PC in 2026, although its exact release date remains unconfirmed. Game details.
