Waven is a new tactical RPG developed by Ankama, the same studio behind the popular MMOs DOFUS and WAKFU. The game is set in a flooded world where players take on the role of a seafaring adventurer searching for answers to the great upheaval that has caused the world to change. The game is free-to-play and will be available on Windows PCs, Macs, and tablets and smartphones running iOS or Android.
Waven offers a new perspective on the tactical multiplayer RPG universe by combining adventure and turn-based strategy with deckbuilding mechanics and valuable items to collect. Players can choose their hero, equip spells, and set sail from island to island in a vast world full of colorful creatures, gaining power, refining their strategy, and uncovering the world’s secrets adrift.
Players can face off against multitudes of burlesque monsters of increasing difficulty, master the elements, cast powerful spells, summon mythical companions, and battle enemies in close combat or from a distance to defeat them and win tons of loot. They can gain experience to upgrade their hero, defend their Haven Island from attacks by other players in an asynchronous mode, or prove their valor by entering the doors of the Kolossium to challenge other players and become a legend themselves.
Ankama is proud of the work they have put into the game, and they believe that it is a unique experience that players will enjoy. The game will be released in late 2023, but players can get early access this summer to try out one last version of the game and give their final feedback. The game is co-published by Ankama and New Tales and will be cross-platform, allowing players to continue their adventures on different devices with the same account.
