RPG News, Announcements and Releases of the Week - 27 July 2024

Let’s take a look at everything that happened during the week on PC and Consoles.

The weekly recap is here to wrap up the week and review the main news, announcements, and new releases. Let’s dive into some of the RPGs we’ve discussed and announced this week. The first is ColdRidge, a strategy game with exploratory mechanics set in the Wild West, featuring a remarkable graphic style and intriguing premises. It is still in development, but a demo is already available. You can find our overview here.

Next, we introduced two brand-new and highly interesting dungeon crawlers. The first one is Dice ‘n Goblin, which offers first-person exploration and isometric combat with the unpredictability of dice. The second is Golel, a game more closely tied to classic dungeon crawlers of the past, offering first-person combat and exploration but with several interesting innovations, such as the ability to leverage the surrounding environment to outsmart enemies.

Another overview introduced us to Burden Of Command, a strategy game set during World War II. It puts players in command of an infantry regiment, offering a deep simulation where every decision impacts the outcome of operations and the fate of your men. The game has been in development for a long time, and the developer has finally announced a launch window for Q1 2025 on PC.

Another announcement this week came from developer Schisma Games and publisher 101XP with The Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian, a narrative RPG where players take on the role of Prince Jerian, heir to the Great Arknian Empire. Set in a grim world ruled by harsh gods, the game challenges players to navigate political intrigue, manage the empire’s resources, and make critical decisions that will shape the nation’s future. Players must balance the demands of the nobility and commoners while uncovering divine truths and carving out their destinies. The game is coming soon to Steam and the 101XP.com portal.

Another significant piece of news is the announcement from ATLUS that on July 29, there will be a new showcase for Metaphor: ReFantazio on the ATLUS West YouTube Channel, introducing new details about the characters, the game’s social system, quests, and much more. Unfortunately, there is still some time before the game’s release, scheduled for October 11, 2024. Darn it!

New Releases of the Week

There are some interesting console releases. The first is Monster Train. The award-winning rogue-lite deck builder has landed on PlayStation 5, having previously been available only on PC, Switch, and Xbox. Another console release, this time for Switch, is the JRPG ONE PIECE ODYSSEY, making its debut on Nintendo’s console.

Forgotten Mines
Forgotten Mines is a newly released PC game.

For PC, we have Forgotten Mines, a tactical roguelite that puts players in the shoes of brave dwarves trying to reclaim their mines from unwanted guests. Another title worth mentioning, now available in early access, is the monster-taming life simulator and so much more, Ova Magica, featuring a colorful style and the ability to tame your own blob.

I know there aren’t many new releases, but you’ll surely have some titles to catch up on or RPGs you’re currently engaged with.
