Here we are again with another weekly recap regarding RPGs and Strategy Games with turn-based mechanics. This week (possibly even more so than the previous one) has been filled with numerous developments in the world of our cherished turn-based games.
There have been major releases, news, and announcements, and sadly, a project was canceled after being released in early access. So, without further delay, let’s dive into the weekly recap.
Suikoden Spiritual Successor Eiyuden Chronicles Is Ready For a Closed Beta
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, the eagerly awaited JRPG, is gearing up for its closed beta phase starting March 14, 2024, exclusively for its Kickstarter backers. This sneak peek comes right before the full game hits the shelves next month, offering a glimpse into its rich world and intricate gameplay.
This release is tinged with sadness following the passing of Yoshitaka Murayama, a legendary figure in its development team. The game is set for a wide release on April 23, 2024, across platforms including PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Tactical Strategy RPG Eldgear Now Available
Eldgear, a tactical strategy RPG by KEMCO, is now available on PC and consoles, including Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, and Nintendo Switch. The game immerses players in the expansive world of Argenia, transitioning into an age of magical civilization.
Featuring a turn-based battle system, Eldgear allows for various strategic approaches and utilizes immersive pixel animations. It supports diverse attack strategies and special abilities, offering a rich tactical gameplay experience.
New Name and New Publisher for Story-Driven RPG Xenotheria
Dark Sky, originally known as Xenotheria, is a story-rich turn-based sci-fi RPG set to release in Q3 2024. Developed by Ganymede Games and published by Midwest Games, it takes players to a devastated mining planet where they navigate strategic combat and deck building.
The game features customizable decks, dynamic characters, and a rich narrative. It marks the beginning of a broader narrative universe, offering strategic gameplay set in a compelling alien world. Here the newly named Steam Page.
Isometric CRPG Unforetold: Witchstone Halted Developments
Spearhead Games has halted Unforetold: Witchstone’s development (we talked about it in our preview) due to financial difficulties, which are only two months after its Early Access debut. Facing significant challenges, the team had to let go of most employees but remains hopeful for a future revival.
The upcoming update on March 8th will be its last, with plans to shut down the game’s Discord server. Amidst this, some players are seeking refunds, hoping for Steam’s support in light of the game’s premature end.
Now PlayStation Users Can Try One of The Best Isometric RPGs Of the Last Years
Solasta: Crown of the Magister, one of the best tactical isometric RPG of the last years, is now available for PS5 via the PlayStation Store, priced at $29.99. Initially launched in Early Access for PC and later released on Xbox, the game offers a deep dive into a fantasy world where strategy and character customization play pivotal roles.
The PS5 edition also introduces a “Lightbringers” edition for $59.99, featuring the base campaign, additional campaigns, new classes, ancestries, and a supporter pack.
Advance Wars-like Strategy Athena Crisis Now Available in Early Access
Athena Crisis, inspired by Advance Wars, has entered Early Access on Steam. This strategy game, developed by Christoph Nakazawa, offers cross-platform play across browsers, mobiles, and the Steam Deck. It features a mix of tactical gameplay with diverse units, including the unique Bazooka Bears.

Another Episode From The Legend Of Heroes Series Is Set For a Western Release
The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak will be released in Western Europe on July 5 and will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. This installment continues to explore the nuanced world of Calvard, following protagonist Van Arkride.
The game introduces a new combat system and emphasizes player choices affecting the narrative’s direction. A Collector’s Edition, featuring numerous physical and digital extras, is available for pre-order.
Persona 3 Reload Announced The Expansion Pass
Atlus announced the Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass, which will conclude with “Episode Aigis: The Answer” in September. This expansion for the Persona 3 remake adds new costumes and background music and extends the story, with the first wave releasing on March 12, 2024.

An Exciting New Way To Be A Vampire
Rise of Peles, a new vampire RPG by Twisted BrainZ, lets players embody a lord of darkness. In a world inspired by 18th-century horror, players must engage in conditional turn-based combat, craft equipment, and expand their vampiric lineage.
Players can customize their vampires, manage a castle, and make strategic decisions that influence the game’s narrative and their character’s development. A day-night cycle adds complexity, requiring strategic planning to avoid sunlight. The game promises an early access release on Steam for Windows PC in late 2024. Dungeon Crawler Set In Dark-Fantasy Roman Empire Now Available On PC
Ludus Mortis, developed by 68k Studios, is a First-Person Dungeon Crawler RPG set in a dark fantasy Roman Empire. It is now available on Steam and GOG for Windows and Linux. Featuring a party-based system with turn-based combat, players can create characters from 14 classes, manage a gladiator school, explore catacombs with puzzles and traps, and craft new equipment.
The game, which received positive early access reviews, also supports Steam Deck.
Roguelike Time-Manipulation RPG Lord Ambermaze Announced
Lord Ambermaze is a dungeon crawler adventure game by HeroCraft PC, emphasizing a unique combat system where actions and time progression are interlinked. Set on an island where time stands still, players navigate through challenging puzzles and enemies, with the ultimate goal of saving their sister and defeating the ominous Lord Ambermaze.
The small yet talented Potata Company developed the game, which combines strategy and careful planning. It’s set to release on Steam and promises brain-teasing combat and rich storytelling.
Saga Emerald Beyond New Character Trailer
SaGa Emerald Beyond, the latest installment in the SaGa series by Square Enix, introduces a character trailer for Siugnas, the Undying King. Alongside allies named after classic RPG roles, Siugnas embarks on a journey across worlds to combat chaos.

Unicorn Overlord Now Available With Stellar Reviews

Simultaneous Turn-Based Tactical RPG Now Available on PC And Consoles
Stolen Realm, a choice-driven RPG by Burst2Flame, is now available on PC, Xbox, and Switch. This game enhances the RPG genre with simultaneous turn-based tactical combat, a flexible class system, and engaging storytelling.
Players can explore alone or in co-op, navigating dungeons and crafting unique heroes from a vast skill and loot system. Its praised tactical depth and engaging mechanics make it a standout release.
Spellcasting Puzzler Roguelite Tactical Breach Wizards Beta Playtest
I’m waiting for it, and I hope to be one of the 2500 beta testers of Tactical Breach Wizards, which is currently running a beta playtest available to about 2,500 participants for the next month. This unique game combines grid and turn-based tactics with spellcasting, developed by Suspicious Developments (Heat Signature, GunPoint).
Players control a team equipped with spells instead of traditional weapons, navigating rooms and facing enemies creatively. Pixelated Tactical RPG Dream Tactics Has a Release Date And New Trailer
Dream Tactics, a GBA-styled strategy RPG, is gearing up for its Steam release on April 15, 2024, priced at $17.99 USD. It features a unique card-based combat system, extensive character customization, and a world filled with secrets to explore.
The story follows Neru and her allies as they navigate the Dream World, unlocking cards and items to face off against foes. Developed by Spectra Entertainment, it promises engaging gameplay and a charming narrative.
