Aether & Iron is ready to move beyond PC. Seismic Squirrel has announced that its decopunk narrative RPG will make its way to PlayStation and Xbox consoles in 2027, giving console players their first chance to explore its unusual version of 1930s New York. New story content is also on the way.

Aether & Iron Gameplay

The game originally launched on PC earlier this year and puts players in the role of Gia, a smuggler living in an alternate New York where anti-gravity technology has completely changed the city.

Roads and vehicles now float above the ground, while criminal groups, corporations, and political interests fight for control of the city.

Battles take place between vehicles and use a turn-based structure built around positioning, weapons, and the different cars in your fleet. Outside combat, Aether & Iron puts much more emphasis on dialogue, choices, skill checks, and the companions Gia recruits along the way. Hustle, Smarts, and Brass work as the main character stats and can affect both conversations and dangerous situations.

Aether And Iron

The console announcement comes after several months of post-launch support on PC. Seismic Squirrel has already added extra mini-quests and previously outlined plans for additional story missions and a dice mini-game inspired by gambling games from the 1930s. The developers have also talked about having plenty of unused material from the original development, so there is room to expand Gia’s story and the setting further.

Exactly what the newly announced story content will include hasn’t been detailed yet, and there is currently no specific release date beyond 2027 for the PlayStation and Xbox versions. For now, Aether & Iron is available on PC through Steam, where it currently holds a Very Positive overall user rating. Below is the console announcement trailer.
