And then halfway through the month, I realized I hadn’t done my recap of the most interesting new releases for May 2026, the one I always put together at the beginning of the month. Unfortunately, work has completely taken over lately. I’m dealing with an office move, so my head’s been tied up with everything going on.
Still, even in the middle of the month, it’s a good time to take a look at what’s new and what’s coming over the next few days.
So I gathered the titles that, in my opinion, stand out a bit more than the rest, no hard feelings to anyone, of course. It’s just my personal take.
Wardrum
- Developer: Mopeful Games
- Release Date: 7 May, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

Wardrum‘s tactical 2.5D roguelite battles are eye-catching enough on their own, but the real draw is the game’s addition of rhythm mechanics. Your barbarian tribe is empowered by a mystical drum, so you’ll need to time your attacks to its mighty beat if you want to have any hope of overcoming the foul magics arrayed against you.
You can adjust the difficulty of the rhythm gameplay if you prefer to focus more on Wardrum‘s tactical aspects, so no matter your style this primal roguelite is well worth checking out.
A Tale of Silent Depths
- Developer: Crit42 Studio
- Release Date: 14 May, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

In this creepy pixelated RPG, you command an enormous submarine, your people’s home in a flooded world. Exploring the procedurally-generated depths, you’ll find resources, foes, and secrets better left uncovered as you struggle to survive.
A Tale of Silent Depths has a free demo available now, and launches on 14 May. If you’re looking for a serene but unsettling world to get lost in, this is the game for you.
Lost Totem Trajipon!
- Developer: SolPlex Entertainment LLC
- Release Date: 15 May, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

Lost Totem Trajipon! is a twisted, occult take on classic Pokemon, complete with monochrome graphics. You can capture and battle Minions as you would expect, and even sacrifice them to transfer their moves to others, but there’s no fainting – a critter that falls in battle is well and truly dead.
Trajipon also looks to have a lost media superstory over the game itself, making it even more enticing for horror fans and RPG enthusiasts alike. Check it out when it lands on 15 May – there’s even a standalone demo launching the same day, so you can try it before committing to a purchase.
Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II
- Developer: Bulwark Studios
- Release Date: 21 May, 2026
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox
- Steam Page

Mechanicus offered some of the best tactical battles this side of the tabletop in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, and the upcoming sequel has even more in store.
Not only will you be able to command the might of the Tech-Priests once more on a brand-new campaign, but you’ll also have the opportunity to play as their foes the Necrons, doubling the possibilities.
Whether you’re a 40K fan or just like a great tactical RPG, be sure to give Mechanicus II a try when it launches on the 21st. We wouldn’t be surprised if the original goes on sale, too, but only time will tell.
STARBITES
- Developer: IKINAGAMES
- Release Date: 21 May, 2026
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

If you’d prefer to spend the 21st in a more optimistic sci-fi univers, Starbites is a fun-looking anime RPG that puts you at the head of a team of scrappy scavengers traversing a junk planet in their ramshackle mechs.
It’s bright, colorful, and lets you craft upgrades from the loot you find while you unravel the history of your team and their world.
Enter the Chronosphere
- Developer: Effort Star
- Release Date: 25 May, 2026
- Platform: Windows, Mac
- Steam Page

Bullet-hell games don’t exactly scream “turn-based,” but Enter The Chronosphere has managed to make it work.
When you move, so does everything else; when you stand still, so do the bullets. That means you have all the time in the world to plan your strategy, but the game remembers every trajectory and detail – did you?
Chronosphere doesn’t just have a neat gameplay concept, it also has some very cool visuals. There’s a demo available now, and the game enters Early Access on 25 May. The devs are hoping to hit 1.0 after about six months, so hopefully we’ll get to report on the full release before the calendar runs out!
LumenTale: Memories of Trey
- Developer: Beehive Studios
- Release Date: 26 May, 2026
- Platform: Windows, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch
- Steam Page

Lumentale steers the monster-catching formula into more traditional JRPG territory, with a focus on worldbuilding and a protagonist with their own personality and goals beyond simply being a stand-in for the player.
It also offers 4v4 battles in addition to the standard solo duels, with cooking, crafting, and even some home furnishing mixed in for good measure!
If you’re looking for something that’s a bit more than just the same old menagerie but still feels familiar, check out the Lumentale demo. The full game isn’t far off, releasing on the 26th.
Echo Generation 2
- Developer: Cococucumber
- Release Date: 27 May, 2026
- Platform: Windows, Xbox
- Steam Page

Voxels really deserve more love outside of Minecraft, and Echo Generation does a great job of showing off what they can do. The sequel to this Stranger Things-esque retro-horror RPG promises even more weirdness as you play a father whose family vacation spirals into a terrifying mystery.
Echo Generation 2 has a free demo available right now, and the game itself launches on 27 May. The original game is bundled with Cococucumber’s other voxelated adventures at a pretty good discount, too, if you’re looking for something to play in the meantime.
The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time
- Developer: Coin Drop Games, Lucas Immanual
- Release Date: 28 May, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

If you like ’90s RPGs, this strange title is one you’ll definitely want to take a look at. It’s a deduction puzzle game built into a fictional, unreleased JRPG.
Not only do you need to play the final hour of this legendary game, but you’ll also need to flip through the manual and listen to director commentaries to uncover the secrets hidden in the greatest RPG never made.
Far from a traditional game, we fully expect this short (4-6 hour) experience to be a fourth-wall-breaking brain-buster, and we can’t wait to try it out when it releases on the 28th.
STARDUST: Wish of Witch
- Developer: Kniv Studio Co., Ltd
- Release Date: 28 May, 2026
- Platform: Windows
- Steam Page

Rounding out the month of May, we have Stardust: Wish of Witch. We’re always eager to try an isometric SRPG, and this one looks to not only have some fun battles with an extra card mechanic to shake things up, but it’s also bright, colorful, and adorable.
If you’re up for a bit of nostalgia, both in terms of the classic anime style and old-school grid battles, try the Stardust demo! The full game will be available toward the end of the month, on 28 May.
