The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel

If you’re looking for a good spot to jump in on Nihon Falcom’s massive The Legend of Heroes franchise, Trails of Cold Steel offers a solid introduction with its academic setting and deep worldbuilding.
Throw in a social subgame where your classmates and party members get bonuses based on how you interact with them throughout the year, and this classic is a great fit for fans of Persona and Fire Emblem alike.
Trails of Cold Steel is 50% off on Steam until 18 May, letting you get it for just $19.99 rather than the usual $39.99. The discount applies to all the DLC as well, including item packs and alternate outfits for the main cast.
This Is the Police 2

This Is The Police 2 feels like if XCOM were a rural cop drama. As the sheriff of a small town, you’ll manage your police force and conduct raids against criminal gangs, while privately struggling with your own inner demons.
Like the other This Is The games, you can expect to face a lot of temptation to abuse your power… even if it feels like the ends justify the means.
This Is The Police 2 is marked down to just $3.74 on Steam until 18 May, a 75% discount off the standard price of $14.99. The same goes for the original game, or you can get the complete This Is The franchise for just $12.35 while the sale is on.
Rise Eterna 2

The original Rise Eterna offered some solid tactical gameplay for SRPG fans, and the sequel has even more with a brand-new war to fight over a vacant throne.
Rise Eterna 2 has a deep character progression system that allows lots of freedom, but also takes each soldier’s background into account, letting you make decisions based on their specializations.
Both Rise Eterna games are 90% off on Steam until 18 May, with both titles down from their standard prices of $19.99 to just $1.99 each. They aren’t offered in a bundle at this time, but at those prices, does it really matter?
Loop8: Summer of Gods

Loop8 looks and feels like a classic anime, combining slice-of-life summer vacation vibes with a sci-fi battle to save humanity.
As the new kid in a sleepy Japanese town, you’ll befriend the locals while fighting the monstrous Kegai. With only a month until the end of the world, you’ll repeat August of 1983 over and over again until you find the timeline that saves everyone.
Loop8 is a very generous 88 percent off on Steam until 18 May, taking the price from $39.99 down to $4.79. The Deluxe Edition, which includes the soundtrack, is 80% off, bringing it from $49.99 to $9.99. If you’re interested in some extra outfits, the cosmetic packs are variously discounted from 51% to 60%, and you can scoop up the whole set for just $2.07.
SpellForce: Conquest of Eo

Set in the world of the classic SpellForce games, Conquest of Eo is a hybrid 4X-RPG that gives you your own wizard’s tower and book of spells, then turns you loose on a hand-crafted map.
Between raising armies, building relationships with the various factions, and fending off attacks from rival mages, you’ll have your hands full as you seek to make your mark on the realm.
The base game is just $7.49 on Steam until 17 May, a savings of 75% from its standard price of $29.99. All of the DLC is discounted as well, and you can get it all bundled together for the complete experience and an even bigger deal at the same time!
Light Fairytale Episode 2

Light Fairytale is a series of episodic, anime RPGs that together form an ongoing story. They’re an impressive project from a solo developer, and with the recent launch of the third episode into Early Access, now is a great time to give them a try!
The first two episodes of Light Fairytale are 75% off on Steam until 25 May, bringing them down to just $2.49 each from their standard price of $9.99. Episode 3, being longer and more recent, is just 10% off, but you can also get the whole series as a trilogy for just $11.88
Beyond Galaxyland

Beyond Galaxyland offers some very cool pixelated vistas to explore, complete with giant sloths, sandworms, and alien beings that defy description. With its strange and wonderful worlds and dangerous boss battles, this is an interplanetary RPG adventure that you won’t soon forget.
Beyond Galaxyland has a free demo available on Steam, and the full game is just $4.94 until 23 May – a discount of 67% from its usual $14.99 price tag. The game is also offered as part of a few different bundles, so the adventure doesn’t have to stop at the edge of space.
For The King II

When it comes to co-op play, there’s really no substitute for a quality team-based RPG. For The King lets you and your friends fight for freedom and glory in tabletop-inspired adventures where you’ll each have to make important tactical decisions if the group is going to survive. There’s even more danger lurking in the sequel, so gather your party and get questing!
For The King II has a hefty 66% discount on Steam until 18 May, knocking its price tag down from $24.99 to $8.49.

Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden

If you wish XCOM-style games had a bit more story and exploration, then Mutant Year Zero is just what you’re looking for.
In this bizarre post-apocalyptic tale, you’ll guide a band of mutants in the search for a legendary promised land. There’s a strange beauty to the ruins of human civilization, but be sure to stay alert and look for opportunities to ambush your foes.
The free demo of Mutant Year Zero is well worth a try, and if you decide to continue the story the full game is just $13.99 on Steam until 25 May. That’s 60% off its standard price of $34.99, and the Deluxe Edition, which includes the Seed of Evil DLC, is 54% off at $20.68.
Lands of Sorcery

Lands of Sorcery is a bit like Battle Brothers meets Darkest Dungeon, wrapped up in a Conan-esque swords-and-sorcery setting. It’s got enough systems to make it more than just a back-and-forth hackfest, and it feels like playing a cheesy ’80s fantasy movie in all the best ways.
Lands of Sorcery normally goes for $24.99, but Steam has it on sale for just $9.99 right now, a savings of 60%. You’ll have to hurry, though, as the sale ends on 13 May!
Valkyria Chronicles 4 Complete Edition

Of all the Valkyria Chronicles sequels, VC4 does the best job of recreating the magic of the original game. Happening simultaneously with the events of the first title, it puts you in command of a lone squad on a desperate mission deep in enemy territory.
The series’ signature visuals and hybrid turn-based and real-time gameplay are the best it’s ever been, making this a must for fans and a great entry point for newcomers.
The Valkyria Chronicles Complete Edition, as its name implies, includes all of the DLC with new missions and scenarios. Steam has it discounted 80% until 14 May, giving you a chance to embark on Squad E’s grand adventure for just $9.99, rather than the usual $49.99.
Dead Season

This solo project is a brutal, tactical take on zombie survival. You’ll need to make sure that every step and action counts as you scavenge zombie-infested ruins. A single shambler or two shouldn’t be too hard to deal with, but if you make too much noise, you’ll have an entire horde to deal with in no time!
You can try the demo of Dead Season for free on Steam, and until 18 May you can get the full game for just $7.99. That’s a 60% discount, as the game usually goes for $19.99.
Stolen Realm

Astral Throne

You can get Astral Throne for just $7.99 on Steam until 18 May, saving 60% off its standard price of $19.99. The discount applies to the Supporter Pack as well, which includes the artbook and soundtrack, and altogether with the game totals $11.19 while the sale lasts.
Anoxia Station

Anoxia Station is part turn-based city builder, part puzzle game. It’s 1988, and the surface of the Earth has been devastated by natural disasters. Your job is to lead a mining crew deep below the surface in search of valuable oil, while contending with the horrors that have awakened in the depths.
If you’re looking for a creepy and unforgiving experience, you can get Anoxia Station for just $5.99 on Steam until 21 May. It normally goes for $14.99, so you can save 60% during the sale. It’s also offered as part of Abylight Studios’ Strategy Bundle, together with One Military Camp and Citadelum.
Brigandine The Legend of Runersia

Dragonero

In classic RPG fashion, Dragonero takes you through the tales of individual heroes before bringing them together for the grand finale. It’s a formula we love, and with some hand-drawn visuals, an open world, and tactical grid-based combat thrown in, The Rise of Draquir is sure to be no exception.
You can try the demo of Dragonero for free on Steam, and the full game is discounted 50% for a limited time. Normally $19.99, you can get it for $9.99 until 18 May. If you’d like to add the soundtrack, the Complete Edition is also half off, running just $12.58 during the sale period.
Lords of Xulima

Lords of Xulima has a distinctly old-school feel, both in terms of its overall vibe and its challenge. This is a game that drops you into its richly-imagined world and lets you fend for yourself.
The lore and the gameplay are equally deep, but it might take some time to get the full enjoyment out of them; once you do, though, Xulima is an unforgettable adventure.
There are several editions of Lords of Xulima available on Steam, all discounted until 18 May. The best deal by far is the Talisman of Golot Edition, which includes the DLC of the same name; it’s 40% off, taking its price from $22.99 down to $13.79, making it slightly cheaper than the sale price of the Standard Edition!
ONE PIECE ODYSSEY

The Deluxe Edition includes a bonus scenario, an extra outfit, and some bonus currency.
