Norse Tactical RPG - News and Announcements

Perhaps the week’s most important news is that the Summer Sale has started, and there are really incredible deals to be had. For example, if you’re a fan of strategy games, take a look here, and in the coming days, I’ll prepare an article with some RPGs that you absolutely must get. But now let’s see what happened this week regarding announcements, news, and releases.

A significant new announcement is definitely Norse. A Tactical RPG title for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox announced by developer Arctic Hazard, which takes the player to the Viking Age to build and manage a settlement, engage in tactical turn-based combat, and forge alliances. The visual style resembles Wartales, both in graphics and gameplay mechanics. We’ll have to wait for more details as they become available. No release date has been announced yet.

It seems to be Mario & Luigi’s time with the latest announcement of a new title in the series. However, I mention it because a new game inspired by the famous brothers is currently undergoing a Kickstarter campaign (with 10 days remaining). The title is Hunter Chronicles: Tara and Vyn and aims to recreate all the dynamics that made the Nintendo series famous. The idea is to bring the title to PC, so if you enjoy this genre, consider supporting it.

Now, let’s move on to a tactical strategy game currently in Early Access on PC since 2021, which recently announced the launch window for version 1.0, extending to Nintendo Switch as well. It’s called Shields of Loyalty and is a tactical RPG that offers the player various types of units to combat an army of undead. You can check out the new trailer here.

Let’s close the news roundup with Rogue Trader. The Owlcat team continues to enhance Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader with the upcoming DLC, Void Shadows, introducing a new character and substantial Patch 1.2. A recent trailer highlights the Lord Captain’s new companion, Kibellah, a skilled assassin from the Death Cults, who will join the fight against the xeno threat. Patch 1.2 also includes numerous bug fixes. The full list of changes is available here.

New Turn-Based RPG Releases

The first title to mention is Undeadly, which has left its early access phase. An RPG that takes players into a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies (surprise, surprise). Players must search for items and resources during the day and prepare to defend themselves at night. If you’re into tactical games, this is definitely one to check out.

Another fun title is Guncho, a tactical roguelite in which players take on the role of cowboys fighting on relatively small maps. They use various weapons and upgrade bullets for different effects. You can find it on Steam.

For those who need strategic fun and want to break away from norms and rules, there’s ALL IN THE GAME: Crime Strategy, released a few days ago in Early Access. As the title suggests, you’ll need to be a bit dishonest to achieve your objective at any cost. I discussed it earlier this week, providing an overview of the title.

I know this weekly recap has been one of the shortest and most concise in recent times, but the news has been a bit slow in the past few days. In any case, the important thing is to keep moving forward. I’d like to take this opportunity to remind you to join our Discord channel and follow our YouTube channel, where, a few days ago, I introduced 10 newly announced RPGs. Have a fantastic weekend. Ciao
