How Age of Origins is a Mobile Experience Like No Other

Age of Origins

Age of Origins, the apocalyptic zombie RTS from Camel Games, is not quite like any mobile game we’ve played.

It casts you as a city leader in the aftermath of a biohazard-related zombie apocalypse. The undead are roaming the land in fearsome bloodthirsty packs, ready to descend on their prey in mindless swarms – but they’re not the biggest threat you have to worry about.

As ever, the deadliest predators are your fellow humans. Tens of thousands of Age of Origins players around the world are scheming to take you down.

What sets Age of Origins apart from other mobile strategy games, and other mobile zombie games for that matter, is its sheer ambition.

Age of Origins

Gameplay-wise, it spans multiple genres, including tower defense, city-building, survival, and real-time strategy. As a city leader, you’ve got a range of priorities to juggle as you slowly reclaim the streets from the zombie hordes, rescue refugees, and get your local economy back on its feet.

To that end you’ll need to build hospitals, homes, farms, and much more. And to keep them safe you’ll need an army of soldiers, tanks, and cybernetic superhuman warriors armed with hi-tech weapons.

These three different troop groupings are divided into 12 troop types, all with their own special skills. Plus, you can acquire various different equipment items, apply different buffs, and deploy different officers.

The latter comes in three types – Director, Strategy, and Warfare – representing the range of activities you’ll need to master if you want to survive in the bleak dystopia of Age of Origins.

That all adds up to a mind-boggling number of tactical variables to consider. And now there will be a fourth, a Drillmaster.

It’s Kind of a Big Drill

Next year this new female Drillmaster officer called Cattie will be added to the game. She’s even got a backstory. Not only is Cattie a Drillmaster, but she’s the youngest Drillmaster ever to be employed by the world’s largest mercenary group.

After Doomsday, when civilization fell and the zombies took over, she set out with her dog Lucky to explore the world. But a military asset like her was never meant to be a free agent, and soon enough she’s up to her old tricks again.

You can recruit Cattie into your army to train your troops and increase their effectiveness on the battlefield.

Plus, Lucky is more than just a pet. This invaluable canine partner is adept at sniffing out enemies’ weaknesses, giving you a crucial advantage as you head into battle.

Age of Origins

And battle you will. While city-building is a huge part of the game, Age of Origins isn’t all about defense. You’ll also need to strike out into the world and expand your territory – and that’s where things get really interesting.

Age of Origins takes place in a 3D world with 3D features. The topography changes as you move from region to region, and the outcome of a battle can be decided by your ability to use the surrounding terrain to your advantage.

More large-scale battles are unlocked as you move through the game, and to survive you’ll almost certainly need to join an alliance with other players in your nation.

There are three giant cities at the center of Age of Origins’s world map, and alliances battle each other for control over these strategically important urban centers. The rewards for coming out on top are plentiful, but you need a heart of steel to claim them.

Happy Xmas (War is Never Over)

Age of Origins is available in more than 200 countries, and it has racked up more than 200 million downloads so far. Even more impressively, it’s sitting on an average user review score of 4.5 on the App Store, and 4.1 on the Google Play Store from nearly 400,000 reviews.

That’s nearly twice as many reviews as Monument Valley has managed to attract in nearly eight years.

To thank Age of Origins’s vast and loyal player base, Camel Games is giving away a series of in-game Christmas presents, with Santa set to drop gifts throughout the holiday seasons. To claim them, all you need to do is log in.

In addition, the game will drop gifts, stockings, and other assorted items while you’re out and about battling zombies on the world map or completing quests. In other words, you’ll earn extra loot for doing exactly what you’d be doing anyway.

If you still haven’t entered the thrilling world of Age of Origins, this is the perfect moment. Not only will you discover your new favorite mobile strategy game, but you’ll get off to a flying start thanks to all the bonus loot you’ll receive.

To get started, just head to the Google Play Store or the App Store by clicking here to download Age of Origins for free right now.
There’s even a gift code that helps give you further guidance on how to play the game. Use the code turnbasedlovers2112 by going into My Info > Settings. This is only valid for one month though, so get moving.
