The past week hasn’t been particularly rich in news, but it’s certainly been very important in terms of new releases, as you will figure out by keep reading this Weekly RPG news of May 26th.

As mentioned in the article about May releases, the end of the month was going to be very crowded with many promising RPGs. In fact, next week, the arrival of SKALD and Capes will also be seen. But for now, we’re here to recap what has already happened.

Larian Studios Opens A New Studio Based in Poland

Larian Studios, the developer behind Baldur’s Gate III, has announced opening a new studio in Warsaw, Poland, making it their seventh global location. This new addition joins their existing studios in Quebec, Dublin, Guildford, Barcelona, Ghent, and Kuala Lumpur.

Ula Jach, head of the Warsaw studio, emphasized the studio’s commitment to fostering creativity and innovation within Poland’s dynamic gaming scene, leveraging the region’s strong reputation for RPG and gaming expertise. CEO Swen Vincke highlighted the abundant local talent and their enthusiasm for RPG development, describing the new studio as a perfect fit for Larian’s ambitious projects.

The Warsaw studio aims to build a team focused on two major new RPGs, promoting a collaborative and innovative work environment. Job openings for the new studio are now available on Larian Studios’ careers website.

Kill The Wait with new Trailers For Capes

Capes, the upcoming turn-based superhero tactics game from Spitfire Interactive and Daedalic Entertainment, is set to launch on May 29th, 2024, across multiple platforms. Two new trailers introduce players to Mercurial, a speedster with unmatched reflexes and a fighting background, and Weathervane, a former football player with electrical and wind powers.

The game features a dark campaign where players level up heroes, combine powers for team-up attacks, and uncover the truth behind the villain Operator Alpha’s Enhancement Program. Additionally, the Capes: King City Edition offers the full game and extra content like alternate hero appearances and a 50-page art book. New DLC For Rogue Trader

Owlcat Games has announced Void Shadows, the first DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, set to release on August 8, 2024. This expansion promises 15 hours of new gameplay, including a fresh storyline integrated into the main campaign, introducing players to a new romanceable companion, Kibellah, a Death Cult Assassin.

Players will explore the depths of their voidship, facing a new threat from the Genestealer Cult, while interacting with high-level officers and upgrading their voidship with new features like a hangar for launching fighters and bombers. The DLC also adds new archetypes with unique abilities and various quests, expanding the lore and challenges within the game.

Rogue Trader CRPG

In addition to the new content, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader now offers full support for the Steam Deck, allowing players to enjoy the game on the go. To celebrate the Warhammer Skulls event, all digital versions of the game are on sale for up to 30% off, excluding the Collector’s Edition. This special edition includes exclusive items like an 8-inch Cassia figure, a hardcover art book, and a personalizable Warrant of Trade, available in limited quantities.

During the annual Warhammer Skulls event, Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War is available for free on Steam and Epic for a limited time. Originally launched in 2018, Gladius has evolved with numerous updates and expansions, enhancing its combat-focused, Civilization-like gameplay.

It now enjoys a Mostly Positive rating on Steam, with additional DLC packs expanding playable factions and units, including the recent Demolition Pack. Other event freebies include a digital goodies bag on GOG, a set of dice for Blood Bowl 3, and the announcement of Karanak the Endless Hunter, a new legendary hero for Total War: Warhammer 3.

Persona 6 Speculations About The New Logo

The anticipation for Persona 6 is reaching a fever pitch among fans, especially with the latest development involving a leaked placeholder logo. An established leaker, Midori, known for accurately sharing information from Sega and Atlus, has posted what they claim is an early development logo for Persona 6. This logo features bold, black text on a green background with a distinctive interlocked “P6” at the top. While Midori insists that this is not the final logo, the green color scheme aligns with previous leaks indicating that Persona 6 will follow the series’ tradition of unique color themes, succeeding Persona 3’s blue, Persona 4’s yellow, and Persona 5’s red.

After nearly a decade immersed in Persona 5’s world, the community is more than ready for a fresh story featuring teenagers battling monsters with their inner demons. This eagerness is so intense that even a glimpse of a development asset sparks significant enthusiasm. Despite the placeholder’s simplicity, it provides a much-needed sign of progress. As fans speculate and dream about what Persona 6 will bring, the shared longing for the next generation of Persona is palpable, hinting at a vibrant future for Atlus’s iconic series.

Turn-Based RPG Card-en-ciel Release date Announced

Inti Creates has announced the release date for its turn-based RPG Card-en-Ciel, set to launch on October 24, 2024, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Featuring English voice actors Alex Le and Cristina Vee, the game includes combat on 3×6 grids where players use cards for attacks, movement, or special skills, with victories granting new cards. Card-en-Ciel offers a full storyline with English and Japanese voice options for over 300 character cards.

Players can explore more than ten dungeons and utilize Muse Cards to unlock hidden abilities and combos during battles. The narrative follows Neon investigating the invasion of characters from various games into other virtual worlds, offering multiple endings based on player choices, with the possibility of co-op play hinted.

Ash of Gods: Redemption On Its Way to Mobile

Ash of Gods: Redemption, the acclaimed turn-based RPG with tactical combat and CCG elements, is set to release on Google Play in a few weeks! Players will navigate through a war-torn land ravaged by The Great Reaping, making crucial decisions and engaging in strategic battles where no character, not even the protagonists, is safe from death.

With awards like Best Game at the Games Gathering Conference and White Nights in 2017, this game has received praise for its evolving story driven by player choices. Songs Of Conquest Out Of Early Access

Songs of Conquest 1.0 has officially launched, bringing a slew of exciting updates for fans. Alongside the highly anticipated final campaign set in the sandy dunes of Barya, players can now enjoy an expanded soundtrack with new tracks and a song by the game designer Carl.

To celebrate the game’s visual acclaim, a digital artbook featuring a foreword by Gregory Fulton, the lead designer for Heroes of Might and Magic 3, is also available. A Great Dungeon-Crawler From The Past Now On PC and Consoles

Digital Eclipse has unveiled a full 3D remaster of Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord, now available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and GOG. This remaster revitalizes the 1981 classic that pioneered party-based RPGs and inspired franchises like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Built directly on the original Apple II code, this version preserves the game’s classic mechanics while introducing modern graphics, improved party management, and seamless navigation.

Players can enjoy crafting their own adventuring party to explore treacherous dungeons, battle monsters, and recover the amulet stolen by the evil wizard Werdna, all while appreciating the game’s enhanced visuals powered by Unreal Engine.

Wakfu-Based Deck-building Game Now On Switch

One More Gate: A Wakfu Legend, the deck-building game, is now available on Nintendo Switch! Ankama, the developer and publisher behind the renowned transmedia franchise Wakfu, is thrilled to announce the release of their first title on the Nintendo platform.
