It’s time to look at all the major RPGs and Strategy Game releases coming in September 2025, which is already underway. There’s a ton to cover, but as you could probably guess from the cover image, the spotlight is on the huge return of Square’s tactical masterpiece, Final Fantasy Tactics, which is set to launch at the end of the month.
Of course, it’s not just about that one title, though plenty of people will stop right there, because this month is stacked if you’re into roguelites and strategy games.
Right below Final Fantasy Tactics, I can’t help but highlight another major remake from a legendary series: the very first chapter of Trails, now debuting in an optimized version. For anyone like me who’s never touched the series before, this is the perfect entry point.
But it’s not just about Japanese RPGs, September also brings titles like The Temple of Elemental Evil, a must-watch for fans of isometric CRPGs, though it still doesn’t have a locked release date.
On top of that, there’s a brand-new DLC for Wartales, expanding the survival RPG even further with fresh strategic mechanics focused on territory control and resource production.
And maybe, for many players, this won’t be the month of Final Fantasy Tactics at all, it’ll be the long-awaited return of one of the most anticipated 4X strategy games: ENDLESS Legend, finally set to launch this month after slipping out of its August window.
The roguelite lineup is also packed with intriguing releases, including Flick Shot Rogues, Wander Stars, Aethermancer, and plenty more.
As for me, personally, my eyes are on the promise of a playable demo for MENACE, though you won’t see it included in the official list below.
So all that’s left is for you to scroll down and check out the full lineup. And if you want a recap of every 2025 release so far, I’ve got a link for that too, perfect for catching up on any gems you might have missed in previous months. Let’s start.
Crossed Commands: Collision
- Developer: SlightQuartz
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: September 3, 2025 (Early Access)
- Steam Page

A 2D pixel-art, turn-based strategy game that wears its admiration for Into the Breach very visibly on its sleeve.
You pilot mechs across tactical grids, dismantling foes to harvest parts and Frankenstein your own custom war machines, a riff on roguelite mech-building topped with environmental tactics and loot-driven progression.
Entering Steam Early Access on September 3, 2025, SlightQuartz presents what looks to be a thoughtful, modular strategy sandbox in progress.
Dual Eclipse
- Developer: Curly Goblin Games
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: September 12, 2025
- Steam Page

Dual Eclipse is a weekend-sized dungeon crawler that treats combat like a charming duel of playing cards, trick-taking with deckbuilding.
You’ll play as one of three classes, exploring compact, trap-filled dungeons, parrying with cunning rather than brute force, and banishing cosmic imbalance by literally switching sun and moon states with Eclipse cards to turn the tide.
It’s dark fantasy territory without getting tangled in grimness, snappy, strategic, and built to finish in a few tense, clever runs.
Grey Heritage: Noble Duty
- Developer: BTrain Studio
- Publisher: BTrain Studio
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: September 15, 2025
- Steam Page

This prequel, which I introduced a few days ago, spins out a medieval, anime-inflected tactics RPG set in the turbulent year 755, a decade before Grey Heritage: Faded Vision.
You step into the shoes of Jaden Ricard, a disgraced lord on the run, who must rally allies and command armies across a fractured land to reclaim his honour and fulfill his duty.
It’s structured for accessibility, no permadeath, campaign clocking in around 10–15 hours, and safety nets like auto-save and a ten-turn rewind.
Supporting a party of ten, tactical combat weaves in inventory management and critical-state attacks, all while keeping the tone light enough for genre newcomers yet detailed enough to keep veterans intrigued.
Flick Shot Rogues
- Developer: Butter By The Fish
- Publisher: Noodlecake
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: September 17, 2025
- Steam Page

In Flick Shot Rogues, you’ll find yourself flipping dungeon crawlers into turn-based roguelite mayhem. Except here, your hero isn’t marching through tiles; they’re propelled across the board in a flick, colliding into enemies or bouncing off walls to rack up combos.
You’ll explore biomes like sunlit beaches and trap-filled jungles via a demo, recruit an expanding cast of heroes (three initially, five in full release), and toy with relics and difficulty levels as you gradually push deeper into cursed, physics-fuelled runs. Death just reshuffles everything: new layouts, fresh toys, and the same fast-paced strategy vibe.
Lord Ambermaze
- Developer: Potata Company
- Publisher: HeroCraft PC
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: September 17, 2025
- Steam Page

In Lord Ambermaze, you’re dropped onto an island frozen in time, literally, since nothing moves until you do.
You play Zeyn, on a quest to save your sister by navigating logic-heavy dungeons, battling bizarre enemies (think exploding pumpkins and mutant plums), and charming eccentric locals with gifts in a lighthearted romance twist.
It’s an action‑adventure with pixel-art charm that blends Sokoban-style puzzles, trap-laden corridors, mini-games like fishing and shell games, and the occasional heartfelt subplot. Hands are steady; this is a deliberate maze thriller, not a button-masher.
Skygard Arena
- Developer: Gemelli Games
- Publisher: Gemelli Games, SpaceJazz
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: Out of Early Access on September 18, 2025
- Steam Page

Skygard Arena is a turn-based tactical skirmish game that drops you into a fantasy world with five warring factions and a tight team of three MOBA-like champions.
Its campaign offers everything from infiltration ops to boss fights, while the PvP Arena serves up bite-sized online matches with ranking, relic synergies, and spell combos, all underpinned by precise grid and turn-based maneuvering.
The Early Access version delivers nine champions, dozens of artifacts and spells, and both story and Arena modes. The full release, due September 18, 2025, promises new champions, maps, localization, achievements, and a proper intro. I’ve collected more details here.
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter
- Developer: Nihon Falcom
- Publisher: GungHo Online Entertainment America, Inc.
- Platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2
- Release Date: September 19, 2025
- Steam Page

The starting point of Falcom’s Trails saga has been rebuilt from the ground up. This remake revisits Estelle and Joshua’s journey across the Liberl Kingdom, pairing the series’ famously rich storytelling with modern presentation.
Visuals are redone in HD, full Japanese and English voice acting is on board, and combat can be played in its classic turn-based style or switched to a new real-time mode.
For Switch players, there’s even a path to the Switch 2 version via a cheap upgrade. For long-time fans, it’s a chance to see a cornerstone RPG in sharper light; for newcomers, it’s the most accessible way yet to step into one of the genre’s most sprawling stories.
Wander Stars
- Developer: Paper Castle Games
- Publisher: Fellow Traveller
- Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
- Release Date: September 19, 2025 (after a delay from an initially planned August 1)
- Steam Page

Wander Stars is a pop-coloured, anime-flavoured RPG where battles are built from scratch, by literally combining words.
You guide Ringo, a martial artist driven by Kiai, alongside Wolfe, a smooth-talking rogue, on a quest across ten episodic chapters to reclaim the Wanderstar map, unlock a tangled backstory, and maybe save the galaxy along the way.
Combat plays out like anime meets deck-builder: slot action, modifiers, and elemental words (like SUPER FIRE KICK!), compute cooldowns, counter strengths, and deliver stylish combos.
Win with honour to earn Pep Ups that turn rivals into allies, and inject bonus perks into your builds. Think cosmic roguelite, episodic structure, procedurally generated maps, and dialogue with capybaras, high-schoolers, space pirates, and more.
Endless Legend 2
- Developer: Amplitude Studios
- Publisher: Hooded Horse
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: September 22, 2025 (Early Access)
- Steam Page

Amplitude’s sequel takes you back to the mysterious ocean world of Saiadha, where receding water, known as Tidefalls, continuously reshapes the map, forcing empires to adapt or perish.
It’s a turn-based 4X wrapped in high-fantasy brio, with asymmetric factions like coral-spore vectors and hive-minded alien invaders each delivering a unique narrative and strategic flavour.
Early Access opens on September 22, 2025, after a brief delay to polish the early game and improve onboarding, localization, balance, and world generation. And if you missed it, the August demo is still live.
Aethermancer
- Developer: moi rai games
- Publisher: offbrand games
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: September 23, 2025 (Early Access)
- Steam Page

You take on the mantle of an Aethermancer in this pixel-art roguelite, part monster taming, part adventure RPG, roaming the wilds of the Fractured Ruins with a three-creature party in tow.
Breathless turn-based skirmishes hinge on elemental synergies of Aether: shields, poisons, power purges, and more.
Let a monster die, and it’s gone for good, but you can rebirth its soul into a stronger form, carrying forward echoes of its previous life.
The Early Access launch on September 23 brings 28 monsters across 19 types, 443 abilities, three biomes, and a stealthy deity boss to the mix, plus metagame progression and dynamic NPC dialogues.
Command Deck
- Developer: k‑critical
- Publisher: k‑critical
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: September 24, 2025
- Steam Page

You captain the starship Peregrine in A-New-Take-On-FTL-Formula Command Deck, a sci-fi, deck-building roguelite that turns spaceship combat into card-driven strategic chess.
You’ve got blasters, shields, glitches, and extraction quirks in a deck of 80-plus cards that direct everything from firepower to hack attacks.
The Outer Reaches is procedurally generated, enemy captains shuffle their own decks, and early progress depends on choosing Executive Officers, building synergies between crew, ship systems, and your growing deck.
The demo, running roughly 30–40 minutes over three sectors, lets you test your mettle now, but the full game, launching September 24, will expand the cosmos with more sectors, officers, cards, and threats.
Silver Daze
- Developer: Sawyer Friend
- Publisher: Sawyer Friend, Gem Games
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: September 25, 2025
- Steam Page

With the world frozen and fragmented, Silver Daze invites a pixel-art JRPG journey packed with emotional weight and card-collecting tact.
Your party grows by collecting cards through exploration, combat, and trades, shaping turn-based battles.
The narrative leans into coming-of-age themes and emotional resonance, set against a backdrop of vivid, retro-inspired environments.
A free demo lets you sample its first chapters, complete with save-carryovers so you can start tracking down missing friends and thawing a broken universe ahead of the full release on September 25.
Lost In The Open
- Developer: Black Voyage Games
- Publisher: WhisperGames
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: September 26, 2025 (Early Access)
- Steam Page

In Lost in the Open, you are King Nrvesk, a fallen despot barely surviving an assassination attempt.
Yet, in this low-fantasy roguelite, your survival hinges on pulling every trick in your tactical book. You’re not just fleeing across procedurally generated terrain; you’re assembling a war-band of recruits whose shifting abilities matter as much as your own agency.
Every battlefield demands positionally aware moves, outflank, outweave, outlast your foes. Choices extend beyond spoiling for retribution; they carry narrative weight and casualty costs.
One wrong path, and your crown or your life is literally game over. This is not sanitized fantasy: it’s survival, repentance, and strategy all wrapped into one unforgiving package.

- Steam Page

Ramza returns, in the sharpest gear you’ve ever seen him in. This is Final Fantasy Tactics reborn: two versions in one package, Classic (the ’97 original with the War of the Lions translation) and Enhanced, which rolls in HD visuals, fully voiced dialogue, quality-of-life upgrades (think auto-save, revamped UI, easier Squire difficulty), and even a lore compendium called State of the Realm for keeping track of the drama unfolding on the battlefield.
A handful of original creators, Matsuno, Maehiroand , Minagawa, are back on board, making this one feel like a proper reunion tour for fans and a smart starting point for newcomers.
The Temple of Elemental Evil: A Classic Greyhawk Adventure
- Developer: Troika Games (original), curated/enhanced by SNEG
- Publisher: SNEG
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: September 2025 (exact day TBD)
- Steam Page

Twenty-two years after its initial release, Troika Games’ legendary D&D adaptation is finally stepping into the modern age.
Based on the infamous Greyhawk module and built on the faithful interpretation of the D&D 3.5 rule set, this remaster preserves the original’s tactical, grid-based clashes, multi-step character creation, and non-linear quest design, all while recognizing and building upon the decades of fan patchwork that has kept it alive.
Thanks to SNEG’s restoration, a cult classic that once only ran on patchwork engines now has a clear path onto today’s PCs. September 2025 won’t just be a new release; it’s the resurrection of a legend.
Wartales – Contract: The Fief
- Developer: Shiro Games
- Publisher: Shiro Games
- Platforms: PC – requires the base game Wartales to play
- Release Date: September 2025 (exact day TBD)
- Steam Page

This DLC invites you to stretch your mercenary ambitions into ruling your own mini-kingdom. Expand your domain district by district, with farms, taverns, markets, monuments, balancing construction, law, happiness, education, and security.
Your decisions don’t just shape stats, they reshape how your fief behaves and how neighboring factions treat you.
It’s a sandbox campaign built atop Wartales’ familiar tactical RPG mechanics, adding political weight and delayed consequences without throwing out the base game’s spirit. In short: you’re a battlefield commander turned ruler, and every decree matters.
Northwind
- Developer / Publisher: Barking Kitten Interactive
- Platforms: PC
- Release Date: September 2025 (Early Access)
- Steam Page

Northwind is a monster-hunting roguelite deck-builder where every clash is a tug-of-war, literally, alongside MTG-inspired mana management and deep card-crafting systems.
You pick a mercenary, map your hunt, and use Legacy Points to expand the Northwind Outpost. Combat isn’t a simple exchange of blows: win the back-and-forth to deliver that decisive strike.
Mana doesn’t regenerate; you’ll need to strategize your land plays like actual Magic spells, balancing offense with resource control. Card crafting lets you infuse, fuse, and smelt cards at the Outpost, turning duplicates into upgraded versions and keeping your deck lean and lethal.
